Real Strength, Real Power
Strength Vs. Power
What is strength? What is power? Do these two words have anything in common? With a bit of surprise, they do. Simply put, having power means to have strength.
So, what does it mean to have strength? To have physical strength means to have well developed muscles to use as needed. To have physical strength means to have the ability to control and intimidate others, if desired. Other forms of strength such as psychological and emotional are much more desirable. To have psychological and emotional strength means to have learned how to deal with stressful situations in an appropriate manner. To have the psychological and emotional strength necessary for life today means having the capacity to understand and control the self. In other words, to have inner strength.
What is power? What does it mean to have power? Power is the force of strength. Physical strength is nothing without power. Power is what drives physical strength to dominate a weaker being. Power is what causes psychological and emotional strength to take over during a crisis. Power is the leading force behind inner strength.
The Power of Strength
Throughout the history of the world there have been many struggles of strength, as well as many of power. The winner is not always the one you would expect. Strength does not guarantee a victory and neither does power. Triumphs are determined by who caves in or gives up the fight. When the battle is over, whether it was a battle of strength or one of power, the combatants go their separate ways while thinking their own thoughts.
Communications between the sides take time to heal the wounds. Sometimes an injury cuts too deep or tears a significant hole in the trusting soul, bringing one or the other to resent the defeat. It doesn't take long for resentment to build itself into a desire for revenge.
The purpose of revenge is to inflict damage on an enemy. Entering a battle for the sole purpose of reciprocating damage is an act of surrender. Surrendering power. Who is the enemy we surrender to? An enemy is anyone we choose to give our power to who will misuse our power. Once we give it away we are powerless and seek the strength to recover our loss.
Strength and power are not always given away for free, sometimes it is stolen right in front of our eyes. Throughout the worlds history their have been numerous individuals who chose to steal the power of many, thinking it would make themselves more powerful. There have been many more individuals who have stolen or attempted to steal the strength and power of one other human being. The individuals who were successful are guilty of murder. The failed attempts of thievery were prevented by the power of strength.
