Restaurants In Argenton Sur Creuse
Argenton sur Creuse Restaurants
Known as « the Venice of Berry » Argenton Sur Creuse is a lovely little friendly town in the Indre department. Its lively streets lead you to a dynamic town centre where you can find a wide variety of restaurants in a very small area. In fact, for such a small town, Argenton has a lot of choice for eating out or just having a drink.
In Argenton Sur Creuse you can find traditional French restaurants, Italian restaurants, take-aways, pizzerias, creperies, and Moroccan restaurants, all of them at walking distance from the centre of the town and its amenities.

Below are some of my favourite restaurants in Argenton Sur Creuse.
Café de la Place
This is one of the main cafés in Argenton. Located in the centre of the town overlooking the Place de la Republique it also hosts a family owned hotel and taxi company.
This is one of my favourite Café/restaurants in Argenton as it is open 7 days a week from very early in the morning until very late at night. An extra bonus is its free WIFI connection available to all customers.
Located in the centre of Argenton at the intersection of the main roads in the town it is the perfect place to sit and enjoy a drink while doing some “people watching”.
Opening times:
The café opens in the early morning for breakfast. At midday it offers a very economical lunch with a dish of the day “plat du jour” for €6.50. You can also get a “formula” which includes the dish of the day and a starter or a dessert for €9.00. If you have the time to enjoy a full lunch you can choose between a la carte dishes or a 3 dish menu for €12.50. Lunch, as in most French restaurants, is only served between 12 and 2pm. The rest of the day the café stays open as a bar.
Very tasty “A la carte” dishes are available for lunch and dinner at very affordable prizes. Count to spend from €6 to €7 for a salad and between €6 to €8 for a pizza. My all time favourite dish here is the Goat’s cheese salad made with local cheese from the neighbouring town of Gargilesse and the Vesuvio pizza, one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tried.
For who? The best place to go with children as the atmosphere is very relaxed and the dishes are child friendly.

La Berrygouden : Creperie
This is a small restaurant specializing in crepes. It opens for lunch and dinner and offers a wide variety of salty and sweet crepes. My favourite –cheese fan as I am- is the one with goat’s cheese. There is a children’s menu available for €7.00
The restaurant has a small terrace on the street and a little romantic patio inside.
La Berrygouden is open from 11:45am to 10pm from Tuesday to Saturday.
Rive Droite
The Rive Droite is a classy restaurant specialized in fresh pasta, mussels and homemade desserts. Here you can also try the best Limousin beef. The menu goes from €6,50 to €12,50 plus a wide variety of choice a la carte. There is also a children’s menu available for €6,50.
The Rive Droite is open from Tuesday to Saturday and it is disabled accessible.

Choosing a Restaurant
- How to Choose a Restaurant
For me one of the joys of travelling is tasting the local food. Unfortunately this is not always as straight forward as it might seem. If it is your first time in a place where you do not know anyone...
