Rottweilers
73My Rottweiler!
The only problem here is that I do not have my very first pictures of my Rottie, so they only go back so far! But still, Rotts are such a beautiful dog, with such great demeanor, and of course protective.
When I went doggie shopping I didn't know what kind of dog I wanted. I just know I wanted a cute one. When I thumbed through a dog book I saw a Rottie and the black rim around the mouth was so cute, it looked like the dog was smiling. THAT is what got me to wanting a Rottweiler.
I had no idea they had a bad rap until everyone started telling me they were mean. I just believe a dog is, what you treat it like! I have literally turned a few people into dog lovers with my Rottie, and now she's an old gal, but she's still always by my side, and she proved that being brought up with love, they only can give love. Even if it's chasing off a stray cat LOL!
Enjoy my photos of my Rottie, her name is Kory, I bought her from a guy in a very small town 10 years ago, and she's been my traveling buddy, and best compainion (sorry people lol) ever. I even took her sight seeing with me to the Great Smoky Mountains, and they let her in some of the shops. We didn't get time to get our Wild West Photo in, cos it rained that day, but here are some others that are just adorable! Enjoy!
My little youngin!
The photos to the side are of my girl Kory when she was about 5-8 months. She was the runt of the litter, but you wouldn't know it from her bark! She has a deep bark for a girl.. and a runt!
But she's been one of the best things I've ever done for myself in my life, besides have my son. Of course he has a dog too, a Black Lab, and they are a team when we get to go visit them!
If you're thinking of getting a Rottweiler, please look into them and make sure they are right for your family. The grow quite quickly, but that doesn't mean they will be mean! I took my dog down to the beach to keep her well socialized. I knew there would be children there who always want to pet a dog on the beach!
It was the perect place to train her. I would tell the children, she's not allowed for you to pet her unless she stays sitting down. So the children always are willing subjects when it comes to animals! They really helped train her around children. It stuck with her as any time she sees kids now she sits because she thinks they'll come to play with her or pet her! :) It's really cute!
She's pulled a few fast ones, like seeing kids go inside the post office one day. She threw her toy out the window in hopes one of the kids would see it and come to play! And they say dogs aren't smart! That was good thinking for a dog I must say!
Also, if you want your dog to be passive, but protective, please know that you never have to train a Rottweiler to be protective. The more love you show that animal, the more protection it's going to show you! Trust me, this is one spoild girl, but NOBODY comes up to my car, without her first checking them out. Cos she won't let nobody hurt her mommie LOL!
Well, I could go on and on, but that's really the basics of owning any dog (or other pet) if you treat them with kind loving care, they will protect you at all cost, and they will have learned that being a good pup gets them rewards, like getting to play with the kids, or other animals.
Take note to what your Rott likes or dislikes, and just try to keep them away from situations that they don't like, after all, our dogs have feelings, and they should be respected as well!

Hi Lucey, I'm so sorry for your loss! :( Mine had cancer too. Breast cancer no less! One day I was rubbing her tummy and I felt a hard crusty kind of lump. I took her into the vets, and it was indeed cancer. They said most people don't find them until they're too far along, and that was 2 years ago, so I was very lucky it was close to the surface to feel it. Thanks for posting, and I hope you're able to get another Rottie again soon. They really are great dogs!
I loved your story. The dog that found me on the street and took me home was a Sheppard/Collie/Rott. Pat thought she ate a kitten. I was the runt and left to die on the streets and she wouldn't allow it. Now we're best buds.
Aw.. thanks for the comment Magick Stories... nothing better than best buds! :)
What adorable pics and what a beautiful story , you can feel the love you have for Kory. Rotts are beautiful dogs and although we have Cockers and they are small but you are right, the more love you show the more protective they become. Our 2 also get along with our Cockatiels! Strange thing about that is that Cockers are supposed to be bird dogs and they run from the birds outside if they are small and the big birds they chase out of the yard, but they have never harmed a single bird. lololo
Love your story and thank you for reading about the puppy miils, I had forgotten about that hub but lately many of the old ones are resurrecting themselves. Enjoy your baby she looks like a sweety!

I love Rotts!!! We had one for 9 years and she was the best dog we ever owned. We lost her two years ago to cancer. We were devastated. Your dog is beautiful. I really liked your hub. Thanks for sharing.
