The Glamour look.

We might be entering 2008, but if you have a curvy body and you have passed your 20s, the 1950s pin-up girl style is what you should be after to highlight your curves and your personality. Remember that after all, in the early 1950s the mature elegant beauty was the ideal. High fashion models looked well bred, slightly aloof and rather older than their years.

The 50s style played on sexuality, sensuality and innocence all at the same time. Think Paris 1950s glamour. The ‘Vamp', nightmare of housewives, femme fatale. The woman who walks her ample hips equilibrated over stiletto high heels. That is the style you want to wear if you are curvaceous and proud of it.

If you still not get the picture, think Dita Von Teese or even Victoria Beckham. Ditta has the curves. Victoria has created them!

Easy to wear season after season. You will only need a few basic items like straight pencil skirts, bright red lipstick, retro dresses and stiletto heels. Not only this style highlights curves but worn wisely is very elegant. Also, it saves a lot of money in renewing your wardrobe at every season.

A "Glam" Mom?

Yes, if you know how to play your fashion cards you can be a mother and still look glamorous. Again, opt for the 50s style and you are on your way to creating an impression.

The indispensable fashion item? Big dark sunglasses, to hide the fact that your "little darling" kept you awake most of the night and you had no time to put on full make up.

Fashion item number 2: This season's enormous handbags. Please, forget the "Peter Rabbit" bag at home and go out with your child in one of the new style handbags. Lots of materials and shapes to choose from. They are just ideal to carry baby bottles, nappies, wet wipes, an extra change of clothes, a couple of toys to keep your little one entertained, and of course, your mobile phone and agenda.

To complete the 'glam' look do not forget the high heels. I know, I am a mom too, and is not easy to run after toddlers on high heels, but then... they cannot run that fast anyway!

If you are breast feeding take advantage of your new found cleavage. Wear tops generously cut and everybody will be so busy looking at your cleavage that they will not notice the extra pounds that you still haven't lost around the tummy.

And of course, do not forget the indispensable item of the 50s "Vamps" a good corset. You can find absolutely gorgeous corsets that also have a good hold on the extra bits that you want to hide to smooth your silhouette. They give you good support and they can be very sexy.

Looks quite feminine! Not for everyone, especially in this day and age. I can't imagine having to get all dolled up to drop off the kids at the sitter and continue on to shop for groceries or pump your own gas for that matter...

Loved the Hub

It is very feminine Zsuzsy, I am happy you like the style. I think it is very elegant and not very difficult to achieve. I love getting all "dolled up" not only for others to see me but also for myself, looking at the mirror and liking what I see can make a whole difference to my day!

The 50's fashions are gorgeous! I have always been a retro baby......hahahaha. The styles are just so much more beautiful than todays it seems. They are also feminine without being frilly, perfect for us 'tomboys'. Love this hub.

happy you like the pictures Compu-smart and djtphn1,  I love the style!

Come on Markuz they are not that old...  Dita and Victoria are less than forty!  The only 'oldie' is the model from 1957.

We agree on the 50s fashion being very feminine RF. Love vintage styles they are so classy...

The styles of the 50's to the very early 60's is definitely an eye catcher. Like Bettie Page, Jayne Mansfield, Brigitte Bardot, and etc., Dita Von Tees presents some of the extremely sexual and sensual apparel attributed to that era. Doris Day. Betty Grable, Katharine Hepburn, Rosemary Clooney, Lana Turner, and etc., were the movie stars that pesented the becoming fashions for the every day classy look of the business woman and a wife. People were more likely to dress in their Sunday-go-to-meetin' clothes when they appeared in public, because there was a social code of dress that was expected for general public activity. Obviously, the code has been compromised for many of our public venues, outside of formal dress functions.
