Simple Tips for Great Skin
Tips to Great Skin
Nope, you don't have to spend a fortune on botox and department store skin care products to have great skin. In fact, there are many things you can do at home to make your skin look its best.
Water
The benefit is that drinking a large quantity of water keeps the skin hydrated and prevents dry skin. Drinking water gives the skin a radiant, healthy, younger looking complexion with no wrinkles, and allows skin to maintain its elasticity and suppleness. Limit caffeine and alcohol.
Department Store vs. Drug Store
If you belive spending $100 on a magic moisturizer will keep you looking great you are only fooling yourself. I’ll let you in on a secret of the cosmetics industry: many drugstore products are made by the exact same manufacturers, in the same factories, as high-priced department store brands. Much of what you pay for at department stores is the fancy packaging, slick magazine ads, and the salary of the salesperson standing behind the counter.
Look for antioxidants when choosing a moisturizer. Antioxidants have been proven to work and improve skin. Sunscreen is also very important.
I like using tinted moisturizers. I find foundation to be too heavy and it actually sets into fine lines which make you look older. Tinted moisturizers are great because they are much lighter and usually contain sunscreen.
Some great brands that I have tried are by Aveeno and Jason. I found Jason to be a bit on the heavier side, it's much more suited for dry skin. Avon has a great skin care line called Solutions that is priced very reasonable and is loaded with antioxidants. A bottle of vitamin E from the drug store costs a few dollars. Cold pressed olive oil is also very good for your skin and you probably have some in your kitchen. You can lather either or both of these on your skin before going to sleep.
Pumpkin
Pumpkin is chock full of vitamins C, E, A, potassium, alpha-carotene, zinc, beta carotene, and lutein. A pumpkin facial at the salon will run you about $90. You don't have to spend all that cash. Just go to your local grocery store and pick up some organic canned pumpkin. Apply a thin layer on your face once a week. You will feel it tingle. That means its working. Leave the mask on for 15-20 mins. The results are instantaneous. Your skin will be smooth and exfoliated. Not to mention all the antioxidants which have been soaked into your skin. This is great for fine lines and acne.
Invest in a vaporizer
Steam works wonders for acne and dry skin.
Eat Right
Ever notice how junk food addicts have bad skin? What you put in your body has everthing to do with how your skin looks. Eat your fruits and veggies. Limit greasy foods and sweets.
Get Your Beauty Sleep
They don't call it beauty sleep for nothing. Your body rejuvenates while you sleep.
Cut Down or Quit Smoking
I'm not going to lecture on the evils of smoking but I will tell you that it causes wrinkles around your eyes and mouth and it dehydrates you. If you must smoke cut down and drink your water.
Dont Worry, Be Happy
Take a close look at some of the elderly people you know. Their face tells a story. You can actually tell by looking at an old person if they have spent their lives laughing or miserable. People who have lead happy lives look great as they age. Do things you love and spend time with those who make you happy. You will feel and look good.
