Basil is a wonderful all purpose aphrodisiac that can be used in a wide variety or recipes as well as for aromatherapy. Basil stimulates the sex drive, boosts fertility and induces a general sense of well being for mind and body which is helpful when "getting in the mood". All of that and it's also known as a stimulant to help restore the nervous system and aids the digestive system. As an aromatherapy basil is known to help cure all kinds of headaches!

Basil is associated with the Haitian love goddess, Erzulie, who is known for her beauty, sweetness, love and sensuality. Basil is a popular tool in many love spells focused on love, relationships, and sexuality. In Italy, sweet basil is called "kiss me Nicholas," "bacia-nicola,". It's used in a pot on the windowsill to signal a lover. It was a royal Herb for the Greeks and even served to horses during the breeding season.

The smell of basil was thought to drive men crazy with lust. Women would dust dry basil powder on their bodies to become more attractive. It's aroma has been used to help cure melancholy as it's an uplifting fragrance that helps promote feelings of contentment. If you aren't cooking with basil, you can add some leaves to steaming water to get the same aromatherapy effects.

Basil is easily found at any grocers fresh or in dry form. If you have a green thumb, grow basil in a small decorative pot in your kitchen and have it handy for use in just about any pasta or stew recipe. Serve Basil Pesto for a romantic meal as an appetizer or light entree'.
