Tears are therapeutic

It's from one of Justin Timberlake's song, actually the title. A song about two lovers who separated because of indifferences. Their love will never be the same even if the girl cry like the river. Of course, his girlfriend was in tears because of the bitter parting.
Tears are the salty or saline product when our eyes get irritated or our emotions welled up that we cannot control crying. When we truly cry, we should be in tears. There's a cry that didn't show tears, like the cry of a dog, wolf or cat. Human beings have the capacity to show the emotion about crying. That's why we are distinctly different from animals, even tough they have also tear glands.
What about tears? Women tend to be emotional. When they're sad by any incident or get carried away by a show on television or movie, they show it publicly. They're not ashamed to cry. But, men, we tend to control our emotion. We are not showy about this emotional thing. So why the tears?
Why are Tears Important?
Tears are essential to the comfort of our eyes, but they do more than just provide lubrication. Tears contain anti-bacterial proteins, salts, sugars, and even oxygen to nourish the eye. Tears flush away irritants and infectious agents that are frequently in contact with our eyes. Since the outer portion of the eye does not have a blood supply, tears must bring nutrients to the eye and remove metabolic waste.
Tears as Therapy
Impulses are sent to our eyes to excrete tears when we are sad. Medical experts explain that tears are manifestation of draining out negative feelings inside our body. Organs in our body tend to react negatively when we are sad. By releasing that sadness, some toxins will also be carried out from our body through the tears. Through this reaction, tears will be able to help wash it out from our body.
There are people who get easily in tears even they're glad if they receive a happy surprise. Uncontrollable rush of emotion will always follow. Tears will show up from our eyes while laughing, especially the women. Or if you win the jackpot prize in lotto (smiles then cries).
Feeling the pain
What about those who are hospitalized? Unbearable pains really make us cry in tears. Only sedatives can make our pain disappear for a moment and make us stop crying.
Recent studies show that bearing our pains and let us cry can make our body's receptor to adjust to the level of pain we are experiencing. Regulating the pain relievers given to us or injected to our bodies decrease the harmful effects of the medicine to the nervous system of our body and also to the immune system.
