Don't Drink Out of the Toilet! (and we mean it...)
Chandler, Arizona recently erected a new public building, complete with all the signs warning visitors of impending hazards. Signs like, “Stay off the grass”, “No eating in this area”, and of course, the ever necessary, “Don’t drink out of the toilets.”
The people of Chandler are known for their rowdy behavior, drinking out of toilets in such. The mayor himself said he was glad for the sign, he was thirsty and he just might have indulged in the toilet water otherwise.
I know I have often had a sip or two out of a public toilet. It’s too bad I won’t be able to drink the water in Chandler’s public toilets. Every town’s toilet water tastes a little different, it’s better to give it a try before the cleaning lady comes in- all those chemicals can be harmful.
I have to wonder what kind of signs will be popping up next? If they can get away with this sign, what kind of sign power will that give these people? The next thing you know there will be signs forbidding people to poop on the lawns, or fart in public, or belch in a dog’s face. It won’t be safe to pee on your flowers, or, God forbid, lick the windows of your favorite store.
While the people of Chandler have dutifully restrained themselves from disobeying the “don’t drink out of the toilets” sign, they understand that if all the signs are obeyed, anarchy will follow. With this in mind, they carefully go out of their way to step on the grass at least once a day. It’s drastic, but it has to be done.
