The Flickering Light

The Flickering Light
I can hear the light patter of the rain on the window pane
It soothes and comforts me as I lay here on my bed
I can smell the freshness in the air and the breeze so light
upon my head
I start to close my eyes and wonder off to sleep
Suddenly I see a flickering light in the distance and I hear a woman weep
I try to get closer and ask her what is wrong
But as I step forward the light and the woman are gone
I'm so worried about her what can the problem be
I will have to find her and sooth her with my company
I turn down every corner and walk down every path
How did she disappear and where did she go so fast
I looked what seemed for hours and finally gave up the search
For I was growing weary and my legs began to hurt
I decided to go home and go right back to sleep
And lay cozy under the blankets and rest my tired feet
But as I lay in bed I saw it once again
The flicker of the light was on her dress upon the hem
I had only been dreaming I had never left my bed
And the woman that I spoke of was gently rubbing my head
I looked into her face she was as beautiful as could be
She was a guardian angel watching over me
