The Psychologist Versus the Philosopher
49The Question is who is more likely to be successful the psychologist or the philosopher. First lets examine what we mean bye each term and not take anything here for granted. The person who practices the study ot the mind. Actually, the ancient ones used the term differently in Latin, psyche meant, soul or mind. While philosophy means a person who loves=philo, sophy=knowledge.
What I have observed in this society at this time period, is that people like facts based on evidence. Since the Psychiatrist does statistical test to support their theories then I would it gives them a stronger position in their arguments. In my eyes everyone is a philosopher most people I know want knowledge. However, most people I know do not want to take the time to go and test theories to prove or disprove them, therefore I must conclude that the psychologist will be more successful, if all other factors are equal between the two people.
The psychologist is more likely to have stronger information on group behaviors, so they could easier manipulate a situation. The philosopher would have their own mind to go by and that is great, however, it is more likely that the numbers will make the difference.

Philosophy,is a percption or theory of what our mind-brain sees with our senses based on whatever knowledge we have at any given time ,and how we react to that knowledge such as in Aesops fables where they give the moral of the story at the end,and the moral is usually very funny.
Psychology is our interpetation of our actions and reactions to social behaviour, however logical or illogical they may be and interpeting that behaviour and how to deal with it.What in some circles is called public relations. In others is called politics and in still others is called religion.Anthrapoligists would call it superstition based on ones own personal knowledge and beliefs.Truth is sometimes elusive ,but it is always there to be discovered.
I too am a member of both fields of study and I tend to believe that they go hand in hand with one another very well, namely psychology and the subdiscipline philosophy of mind. I believe philosophy asks the difficult, "up at 3am downing coffee trying to stay awake", seemingly answerless questions; whereas psychology is to give empirical evidence and empirically-based answers to these said questions.
I am a psychologist though I have yet to obtain my license to practice. I am puzzled about your post. I submit that a Psychologist is an individual that seeks to help cure the mind that is distressed by intervention and guidance without artificial controls if possible--like anti-depressants and such. A philosopher is one who does love knowledge, but not only that. A Philosopher attempts to understand the human existence through oberservation and study. Such a person compares and contrasts to make logical conclusion--whether those conclusions are spot on or fallacies based on some circular logic. Philosophy is the parent of psychology. The two cannot be adequately compared. Thanks for you submission.

Thanks for input. While I too consider myself both, I asked in essence to determine which of my writing passions would support my efforts in the near (and hopefully) not to distant future in my quest to start publishing or being a published writer. Thanks.
