Three Celebrity Deaths in Three Days-Patrick Swayze, Keith Floyd and Mary Travis
68This week
The week commencing Monday 14th September 2009 has been a strange week as far as the News is concerned. There have been reports of murder, assault and much of the usual goings on. However, this week has also seen the death of three celebrities reported. They died on the 14th, 15th and 16th September respectively starting with the youngest first. Whether or not you deem them to be celebrities of course is up to you. In fact depending where you live in the world, and your age, you may not have heard of some of them. However here are the three that were reported to varying degrees in the news in the UK. May they all rest in peace.
RIP to all three
Monday 14th September 2009-Patrick Swayze
For most of us Patrick Swayze is most memorable for his roles as Sam Wheat in Ghost and as Johnnie Castle in Dirty Dancing. Both of these films are relatively light entertainment but Patrick Swayze added a special touch. In Dirty Dancing his beautifully toned body and fabulous dancing feet brought what was in reality a cheap B rated movie into the realms of a classic.
Lately Patrick has been more well known for his on going battle with pancreatic cancer. He fought this battle with dignity and much bravery. Patrick finally lost his battle with this cancer on 14th September 2009 and died aged 57.

15th September 2009-Keith Floyd
Keith Floyd was a well known British celebrity chef. Floyd had been diagnosed with bowel cancer in June 2009 but actually died of a heart attack on 15th September 2009. His love of food remained until the end. His last meal on this earth included oysters, partridge and champagne.Fitting, I guess, as Floyd was always eccentric and flamboyant.
Floyd had a rather upper crust English accent but managed to have fans from all walks of life. However his eccentricity meant that he had as many viewers who did not like him. Usually seen with a glass or bottle in his hand Floyd definitely loved alcohol.
Floyd became famous in the 1980s and many modern British chefs such as Jamie Oliver credit Floyd as their inspiration
Keith Floyd was aged 65 when he died

16th September 2009-Mary Allin Travers
Mary Travis was famous in the 1960s. She was the glamorous blond who sang alongside of two rather staid looking guys. The three of them were known as Peter, Paul and Mary. Probably younger readers will not have heard of this trio. Shame as they were pretty good in their day.
The most famous hit that Peter, Paul and Mary had, world wide, was "Leaving on a Jet Plane", although they had other notable hits. At a time when folk music was popular these three often seemed a little out of sync with the times. After all, for teenagers such as me, Bob Dylan and rebellion was the order of the day. Not glamorous blonds. However most young guys loved Mary.
Mary passed away this week after losing her battle with Leukaemia. She was 72 years of age.

I'm sorry to hear that Patrick Swayze died. It was terrible to see the nasty tabloid titles. I hadn't heard of the English chef but have heard of Peter Paul and Mary from my husband. Nice hub to honor all three.
Thanks Mom. There was around 7 or 8 years between each of them. Funny how a few celebs sometimes die together. If you know what I mean.
