Today in Music

Today, music is judged by popularity by looking at the Itunes best-seller's list. Look at the top songs. What is the same with them all? They are all, or primarily,directed towards young people. Most of them feature either Rap, or Pop. Now here is what the problem is, even if you might disagree with me, I have a point. The lyrics. They don't make any sense, most of the time, no sense at all.

Right now some of the popular songs are:

• Tik-Tok by "Ke$ha" - there seems to be a dollar sign instead of an "S".
  
• Like a G6 by "Far East Movement"
• S&M by "Rihanna"
• I Gotta Feeling by "The Black Eyed Peas"

Now, if you look at the lyrics of these songs, which I will talk about parts of later, none seem to mean anything. Keep reading this Hub, to learn more about what I mean!

For those of you not familiar with it. Autotune is exactly what the word is meant to mean,it automatically tunes the song. Now if you listen to the radio for a good hour, of a newer station, you will hear that some, not all, voices sound like they are robots.This is autotune. If the song sounds bad, now a days, people will just Autotune it. If you listen to older music though,like from even the early 2000's, you won't hear anything like this.

Now do you understand what I mean? Do you see how its sounds slightly like a robot? The record companies just do this to make it sound better, but actually, it sounds worse in my opinion. I'd rather actually here someone sing, not a part-robot, part-human voice.

Now this is what really is strange to me. Who makes the lyrics? To understand what I mean, read some of the lyrics of the same song I have a video above of. Here some of them. I don't want this to be too long.

• Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy
• Grab my glasses, I'm out the door, I'm gonna hit this city
• Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack ( this is a kind of whiskey...)
• 'Cause when I leave for the night, I ain't coming back

Now read these words out loud to yourself. Do they make any sense?

This is what really makes me scratch my head. I don't understand what this really has to do with kids and teenagers at all, except that it's upbeat and fast. Yet this is the kind of music that people seem to like. This song has been purchased over 5,500,000 times.
