What's In The Video?

In this video, Tony Hawks teaches you the basics of skateboarding. Don't be fooled by the phrase "the basics". Skateboarding basics can take years to really master as the pro's in the video, Tony Hawk, Kris Markovich and Brian Sumner point out. Go ahead and watch the video or read below for information on what you'll find in the video.

First they teach you how to set up a skateboard. You definitely DO NOT want to buy from a toy store. Get your skateboard from a real skateboard shop to get the right equipment. Skateboards have to endure a lot of stress so make sure that yours can stand the test of the skate park.

Then Tony and the two other pros teach you the very basics: pushing and turning. Pay close attention if you're just beginning to learn how to skate. The most amazing skateboard tricks are founded on correctly learning the basics.

Then Tony Hawk and Kris Markovich will show you how to do ollies, kickflips, shove-its, heelflips, 180s. These are the next step to the ladder of mastery. These are fairly easy to learn and you should be able to do them with a little practice.

Then, Tony Hawk and Kris Markovich guides in the proper way of mastering the mini-ramp. Nice info on how to do a drop-in properly and other basic mini-ramp tricks. These tricks may seem difficult but you can learn them with practice.

Next to get a step further and bring your skating to a whole new level, Tony Hawk and Brian Sumner will educate you in the basics of rail tricks. Master the basics and you can learn the more complicated rail tricks. You can even invent new tricks and the cool part is you get to name them.
