Trail of Tears

About the Poem
While this poem talks about the mistreatment of Native Americans. That is not the main message of the poem. The poem is a reflection on human nature. Throughout history and everyday life people continue to act in selfish ways that are beneficial to ones self with blatant disregard for others. This can be seen through the plight of Native Americans in our country's past.
I have recently learned the world is full of fakes and liars
Hypocrites, leeches, and greedy conspirers
All this observed from high school folks
It’s a history lesson remember James K. Polk
Reannexation of Texas and Reoccupation of Oregon
Here we go again
Forty-ninth parallel it’s boring
Somebody is snoring in the back of the class
Backpack on his back way down to his a**
Manifest destiny manifest when we
Execute the opposition
To gain what is ours rightfully
But is it right, to have a rifle fully loaded
take life’s because of our own greed
Trail of tears Native American removal policy
1835 it was signed in the treaty
Cherokees died on Andrew Jackson’s orders to march forcefully
And how would we fill if we were mocked degraded into products
Jeep Grand Cherokee
What if it was named instead Jeep Grand Caucasian
The outrage the hoopla would be amazing
Can we care about we instead of the self-centered focus on me?

True. It is an often over looked reality in American history.
Great poetic history lesson. Thanks, Drew Breezy. Here's another book worthy of your list - "The Last Indian War: The Nez Pierce Story" by Elliot West.

Great job on this revelation. Unfortunately, this country was built on the corpses of Native Americans and immigrants. The worse we can do is forget their sacrifices. Thank you for this, drew.
