The whole twitter, blogging, article writing thing has gotten out of hand. If you want to write, you have to promote yourself using those avenues to get recognized. I have just started in the writing world, and have been finding it frustrating to say the least. It is all for money - money is the root of all evil, I've heard - and the root of most twittering, blogging and article writing going on. This recession has spawned a bunch of desperate tweets from people all trying to get a few pennies for their articles, blogs and wares.

First off, you try to get an idea of what to write – you look in books, magazines, blogs, newspapers, or surf the internet for inspiration. You scramble to put together a minimum of 400 well-versed words that will appeal to someone out there. Then you submit it to various sites that make money off of your work all knowing that there are many more people out there looking for ideas that are willing to click on it. It seems like a vicious circle. Who benefits the most from all this click-click-click of the computer keys?

What results from all of this mess? SPAM – lots of it. I tweet you about my article, you tweet me about your blog, and so on not just for the heck of it, but hoping that it will lead to me getting MONEY. Isn’t that what spam is all about – trying to get someone to read something so they will click on a lead and get their credit card out? It may not be as blatant as that, but the idea behind it is still the same.

There are quite a few sites that will let you enter your article or blog so that they can have a piece of what? The Money. Will this madness never end? People who never had any desire to write 400 articles ten times a day are now making the jump since they have no other option. They tweet and blog like maniacs in an attempt to get ahead. Some actually claim to be making a living out of it. Is it an honest living, is my question?

Who is paying out the money to these tweeters, bloggers and article writers? Probably those that advertize on the blogs or hubs where the writers placed their ideas they got from who knows where. I’m sure there are some people who might have enough in their grey matter to come up with ten or so articles of 400 words or more that hundreds of people would love to read. They are really geniuses. But, I am pretty sure that most writers get their ideas elsewhere. Heard of word recycling?

Where has journalism in its purest form gone? I have been learning about spinning what I write into ten articles by just changing around a few words, so that I can then submit it to have a link back to my original article. Something doesn’t seem quite right about that. The big moving media cloud is getting darker and darker. For now, I’ll just follow the cloud and see where it takes me. Hopefully we won’t all just float into a big black hole!
