First Two Years on HubPages
HubPages is Like a Roller Coaster
June Is My Anniversary Here
Two years ago, I joined HubPages from a person I knew on Squidoo and he is more popular here on HubPages. You know him as bgamall.
Being on HubPages has been a roller coaster for me. Chugging along the rail to reach the top, getting closer and closer to the first peak (can you feel the excitement) and zooming fast down to the bottom, then make a few turns and bumps to chug up the rail to the top again. Zoom down to the bottom.
Don't get me wrong, I love roller coaster rides. Just not in social writing. Where my hub score has reached the low 90s at one time and at the moment has crashed down to the 70s. At one timed it bothered me when it went into the 80s. The mid 80s is where it has stayed steadily for about a year until recently of this writing. No doubt after reading this Hub, my score will plummet further. Then I will be riding the Kiddie Coaster. No high peaks and close to the ground.
It doesn't matter. I have receive a lot of advice. Much of it I have appreciated the help. Then there was the email from a Hubber who has a score in the high 90s. Criticized my Getting Stone hub as being unprofessional. I visited his hubs which all seem to be capitalized and in bold print. Yeah, that is real professional. Doesn't he know that writing in all capitals and in bold print is like SHOUTING AT THE READER!
What has kept me here on HubPages are some of the people I have met. The t-shirts (above) do have some truth to them. Not all my friends are in this network, but I have met people here I would like to stay friends with.
I haven't always loved HubPages. I have liked it. I have enjoyed some of the contests that I have entered for recipes, health and travel. These were some of my best hubs, though never won any awards or gain much in traffic. There are some great groups for Newbies, like Hub Nuggets that I had missed out on.
People claim how much they have made in Adsense being a Hubber. It has to be that keyword usage and I...don't click. A few months ago, I received my first $100 from Adsense. Perhaps half of that can be contributed to this network.
At one time most of my sales on Amazon were because of the items I had listed in some of my hubs. Though now that I am utilizing more of my Affiliate Amazon ID in other networks, this is no longer the case here.

Joining Seekyt
Hubber Dave Stone convinced me to join Seekyt. I have written a few articles there. It is still new and it is harder to find fans. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles. But once you get familiar with it, one can have a good looking article. So far I find it is a very friendly network where I can feel appreciated for my writing. I even received positive feedback from Admin in an email.
Not Leaving HubPages…Yet
I am in limbo, wanting to continue writing here, but not sure if it is worth it for me. I am not leaving for now. But I may take some of my articles that are on here and add them to where it will be more beneficial.
HubPages has benefited me in other ways, with my connection with Gary (bgamall), I have branched off formatting his writing in downloadable books which I am not sure I can mention or show here. According to the Hub Team, ebooks are not allowed. I have continued on with this formatting service and even converting a book into Kindle format for Amazon for another client. If you would like to know more about this contact or even if you only need a book cover image, contact me here or email me at sandy@sandyspider.com Gary has posted about this on a forum here. My Ebook Was Approved by Smashwords Premium
Gary also has devoted a page about me on his website STRATEGICDEFAULTBOOKS.com Get Your Ebook Published by Sandy Mertens
I have helped (mistyhorizon2003) Cindy's step dad James Cassaday convert his books into ebooks for Smashwords and Amazon Kindle too.
