WEIGHING IN #2

Updated on September 3, 2010

To Weigh Or Not To Weigh

I sometimes look at the scale the way I look at online banking. Keep signing in several times a day to see how much my checking account weighs! Just think, If I were in England, I could actually see how many pounds were in the account!

And I keep stepping on to that "friggin" electronic gadget to see if once again, I gained weight after walking six miles! How does that happen? It’s simple. After your walk, you drink four pounds of water, coca cola, ice tea, and a beer to top it all off. Yea, I know you’re really thirsty after six miles, BUT.

The same way you deposit a stagecoach full of money and it’s gone before you get back to your computer to look at the balance, which is now close to zero. That’s why you deposited all that money in the first place, because you knew the onslaught was coming and thank God, you made it to the bank before the bills did!

Do we keep checking the bank account and stepping on to the scale in hopes of something magical happening, a way of fooling ourselves into facing what we already know? I mean don’t we already know what both are going to read? Well, of course, there is always a FAT chance that the rich person I helped out in the church parking lot deposited a FAT check into my account or skipping breakfast and lunch causes some cataclysmic event in my metabolism, and I lose five to ten pounds in just one four-hour starvation session

Do not tell me that I am the only one who thinks in such magical ways!

So there are two parts here. First, if you are looking at "transforming" your body, even in a low key fashion, so we’re not talking about developing an 8 pack for abs or being able to bench your own weight (after you lose that "little" bit of weight you need to lose). I mean face it, you’d kill yourself if you tried to bench your current weight, especially if there wasn’t someone there to spot you! So we’re just talking losing a "little" weight which will, in fact, make changes to your body, to your face, your jowls, your neck, your breasts, your stomach, your thighs, and your butt!

BUT (one "t"), first, you must be at home with the body you already have. You must be at home with the body you already have! Totally at home. That is the only way the body you already have is going to get on the band wagon and go along with the transformation, even a little transformation.

The second item is to weigh in, in as many ways as you can imagine, without stepping on to that "friggin" scale. The day will come when you will step on it! That’s an interesting phrase! In the mean time, weigh in by eating slower, chewing your food, savoring your food, and taking note of all the areas of your life where you are either starving yourself or gorging yourself. Transforming your body is not about food or dieting. It IS about your life. Once we get that, the diet will take care of itself.

Please share your comments. Other folks are wanting to hear from you. Me too!

Thanks for reading

Vern.
