Whitney Houston Came Through
Whitney Houston - Didn't We Almost Have It All

The American Music Award
As Whitney Houston's name was called to perform at the American Music Award, Nov., 22, 2009, I had the urge to switch the channel. Why? Well, because, her last two performances, made me want to cry. The reason I felt that way is because the Whitney Houston I knew from the past seemed to be lost. Well during the award show, my daughter convinced me not to change the channel. And I'm happy that I didn't. She came through, Whitney Houston came through, and I loved, loved the performance. I didn't like the song, but I overlooked that, and paid close attention to "the voice." And I'm happy to say "the voice" is back. Of course, that's my opinion, and I would surmise that will be the general consensus of the public, or at least of Whitney Houston fans.
Whitney's Life
I'm not going to rehash the recent past of Ms. Houston, because that's been done to death. Her life has been on public display since she came on the scene. So what I say won't be news. Anyway, everybody deserves a second chance, so, I won't be the voice that keeps her negative past in the spotlight.
Something to think about. What if you, or a close family member went through an embarrassing period in your life. How would you feel if no one would let it die, always keeping it fresh in the minds of all concerned. Give that some thought. Those that have actually had earth shattering events should by all means put themselves in her shoes. She's moving on with her life, so could we just give her a second chance to live her life the way she wants to.
The Voice
That voice, that beautiful melodic voice, Whitney had the kind of voice that could transport you to another time and place. I say "had," because, listening to her music of the past, I can honestly say there was not a better voice anywhere on earth. Now, I don't claim to be an expert, but I do know what I like, and judging from the hits on her YouTube videos, and even more than that, the documented records sales, I would say that millions would tend to agree with me, and to be sure, it's not the experts that buy her music anyway, (I'm just saying).
Actually I said, "had," up til the American Music Award performance, but now, or at least with that performance, I would say "The Voice," is back. I had intended not to buy the album, but now I am going to reconsider. I also eagerly look forward to her future performances. I've never seen her in a live performance, however, now, I look forward to seeing her perform live when she's in the Los Angeles area again.
Not just the voice, she looks really good. The old Whitney Houston is back in every way, but more mature, disciplined, humbled, and more sure of herself. So why don't we all just sit back, give her a chance, and see what happens.
