Weebly is Flawed

Updated on May 20, 2010

Keyword Problems

Hello everyone,

I recently created a website with Weebly & I found it to be a more or less fulfilling experience.
My website is indexed by Google, Yahoo & most of the top search engines.
My home page has a Google page rank of 2.

I also recently discovered that something is very wrong with Weebly!
Everything was just fine until one day I decided to let an "SEO" spider robot crawl my page.

What the "spider" did next stunned me. No... it didn't bite me but it might as well have.
I was completely taken aback when it produced it's results.

The robot showed me that I was absolutely delusional in thinking that my site had begun to establish a footing on the net.
After all this time (6 months) my sub-pages had ZERO keywords associated with them?

That's ridiculous!

I specifically optimized my website's keywords. Let me show you how:
In the "Settings" tab of my Weebly account, you will find an "SEO" button which will allow you to add meta tags...example, you may enter a meta description as well as meta keywords for your site.

What you don't realize is that those meta tags are only directed at your websites "Home" page. Your sub-pages will remain without a description & keywords.

Meanwhile Weebly says nothing...
They secretly knew all along but they were intent to just sit by & wait for you to discover this deceit on your own.
As soon as I got ahold of myself after a session of blurting out loud expletives, I sent an immediate message to Weebly concerning this matter.
As expected, they quoted an all too familiar response:

Weebly Request Update

Hi,

Unfortunately, this feature is not yet available, but we will be developing it in the future. We have a site setup to help us track the popularity of new feature requests and prioritize development. You can check it out here to let us know which features are important to you.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thank you for your support of Weebly!

Best regards,

Nicki
Weebly Support Team

So there we have it! A positive response by the Support Team & a guarantee that the feature will be developed.
So why am I upset?

I'm pissed off because you won't find my 60+ sub-pages anywhere because they are NOT indexed due to weebly not providing the resources to do so in the foreseeable future.

As far as I can tell, it may take years before the feature is released. Have you even seen the volume of feature requests? They have more than 100 other little ideas on the roster.
Everyone who wants to see a feature that suits their fancy has already posted & are racking up votes.

So I've decided to post a Hub & garner as many votes as possible to help get this feature prioritized & developed immediately.

I personally urge everyone to vote for this feature to be implemented by Weebly as soon as possible because what is the point of creating a multiple page website & individually promoting specific pages if your sub-pages won't be listed in the "SERPS" as the search engines will not index them or even rank them for keywords?

This feature is not just something that I want, it's something that both you & I need, something that every Weebly user will find essential towards the growth, development & establishment of their particular website. It is also important in order to promote your website more efficiently & effectively.

Update...

As of the 10th of May 2010, Weebly has fixed this problem!

We are now able to place keywords on every single page of our websites.

Thank you Weebly!

I knew that it would be worth it to "stick wit u"...
