Where I'm From
Where I'm From
I am from sparkly earrings, from Silver Parrot and grandma’s dresser.
I am from the warm carpet by the blazing fire.
I am from the pink and purple hydrangea, the garden of my Avo.
I am from waking up by song on my birthday and blue eyes.
From Anthony and Leona, and Barry and Mimi.
I am from playing in the backyard with Luke and jumping into clear water on scalding summer days.
From “Promise you’ll love me when you’re a teenager” and “Be happy”
I am from a mixture of religions- being offered many choices and beliefs. I am from my own religion.
I am from Guilderland New York, as well as Portugal, Russia, Germany and Poland.
I am from heath bars, fresh fruit, and chicken, mashed potatoes, and gravy.
I am from the flips off tubes on Burden Lake, the nights out by the fire roasting marshmallows, the stage singing “What’s a matter Penney?”, and floating out in green ocean waves.
I am from the back porch of the carriage house, the dancing stage/diving board by the pool, Lynnwood elementary, broad way shows, big family get togethers, and the streets of Greenthorne Blvd.
