Where Is Kununurra ?
Kununurra - Where is that ??
Kununurra . Have you heard about that beautiful place on the lake between Halls Creek and Katherine up north in the Kimberleys ? Do you know where to find it on the map ? Do you know how far Kununurra is from Perth ?
A very long interesting drive either via Exmouth or inland via MT Magnet .It certainly is a drive that is well worth making !
Kununurra is situated about 37 ks from the Northern Territory border & is a about 10 hour drive from Kununurra to visit Darwin in the Northern Territory or 3,213 km, 1 day 9 hours to drive to Perth taking the most direct route through Newman and Meekathara .
Kununurra means" the meeting of the waters " and lives up to it's name.
Kununurra is a beautiful place to spend some time exploring the countryside as well as unwinding kayaking on the lake or beside it.
We love it here and maybe ... will try to be here through the Wet as we have been assured that it is well worth putting up with the" build up "before hand so as to experience the Wet.
There is plenty to see and do within Kununurra and the surrounding area while here ! makes the ideal base for anyone wishing to get around the East Kimberley region.
With so many places to go and so much to see, as well as being a base for the Bungle Bungles, Gibb River road etc the hardest part will be deciding whether to stay for one week or two in the East Kimberley.
See natural wonders and rugged ridges and be awed by the magnificent Lake Argyle.
Have a go at barramundi fishing, explore the natural wonders whichever direction you choose to drive , see the rugged ridges surrounding the lake and you will come to realise that Kununurra has it all !
See the Kununurra Visitor center for your free Glove Box Guide to the East Kimberley and the local attractions.

Black Rock Falls
Not to far out of town you will come across the stunning Black Rock Falls by driving along Ivanhoe Road from Kununurra or Parry Creek Road from Wyndham
In the wet there is an amazing waterfall with a beautiful water hole which was freezing last week ! You do need a 4wh drive for access.
There is also some springs with a big water hole we swam in on the way out which we loved .
Out this way you will come across the other side of Argle Crossing .
