Willow Tree Angel Figurines
Many people discover Willow Tree through the angel figurines. The angels are perfect -- simple white figures with simple wings. Angels are such a popular subject these days so it's hard to imagine that anyone could find a new way to represent them. But when you first see one of the Willow Tree angels, you know that you've got something special.
The figures are studies in simplicity. No facial features, no delineated fingers to detract from the emotion represented by the figurine. They are truly little works of art that you can have in your home.
Willow Tree Nativity
The popularity of the Willow Tree line has spilled over into Christmas. The Willow Tree creche is quietly beautiful. The "starter set" will run about $65 and you get Joseph, Mary and Jesus, plus a shepherd and a few animals. It makes a lovely holiday gift, or a great winter wedding present.
There are additions that can be purchased which will round out the nativity scene. Of course, what scene would be complete without the Wisemen? The Willow Tree nativity set, when it's complete, has the Wisemen, angels, animals and stars. It is quite a display. Depending on where you shop, a complete set will cost a little over $300.
Willow Tree Ornaments
As an additional line, they've introduced Christmas tree ornaments. The Willow Tree ornament line consists of popular figurines scaled to be tree ornaments. Again, the angel figurines are among the most popular. Angels and Christmas are natural go-togethers. You could, if you wanted, create an angel themed tree. With "Bright Star" and "The Angel of Learning" and "Angel's Embrace" any tree would look perfect. A few red bows scattered on the boughs, maybe some clear lights, and it's a perfect Christmas tree! Elegant, understated and, most importantly, in keeping with the true meaning of Christmas.
Every Day Figurines
Don't get me wrong -- Willow Tree is not all about Christmas. The figures are mostly down to earth. Mother, fathers and children are the most common subjects. We see people caught in a moment of time. An older couple pauses to share a laugh in "Anniversary." Or mother, son and daughter share a project in "Generations." A father delights in his newborn in "New Dad."
These simple, inexpensive sculptures are heartwarming. When you bring one into your home, or you give one as a gift, you are celebrating what makes us all human.
