Word Play by Request

As requested, this will be the second installment of Word Play. I had a great deal of fun with the first, and I have had even more fun researching and writing with homonyms this time. My hope is that you enjoy this, and that it coax smile. So without further adieux, and without much ado, I will do my due.



Fun With Homonyms

He gave his all to the ads with an adze, and adds what he can to those with an awl.

The pitcher threw the many throws then suffered through the many throes.

The peal of the banned band could peel paint, but at his peak the barred bard offered a peek at painting with words.

The rabbit was named chief editor, and received a 14 karat carrot for his work with the caret.

Unpleasant it may be to hear a wretch whine, it would be far worse to have to retch wine.

It’ll take some thread to sew its seams, so it seems.

I went online to cite a site, only to find a site on sight.

I looked straight ahead, in a coat of suede, and admired the strait over which the bridge swayed.

I rued the roux I could not make. But is it rude to rue mistakes?

It’s a great disgrace to profit from innocence, but the prophet of innocents is bathed in grace.

He sang the hymn wholly, and she thought him holy.

She gave praise to the aide, and prays for more aid, and when she gets thirsty, she preys on ade.

The toad was towed by the three-toed sloth.

A mathematician may manipulate rho, and a boat can be moved by the force of a row, but a mother fish knows the true value of roe.

We ate a mousse, while eight moose ate.

If a flea can flee, can pleas please?

To celebrate their fortune, the fishermen formed a guild to gild the gilled.

She had a breakfast of bagels and lox, which she took to the lochs to view the locks.

Pigs will never compliment a Pharaoh, which is quite ironic, because pigs will always complement a farrow.

The new gnu knew rejection, because the gnu’s nose knows nos.

I have always loved playing with words. It all started with a fourth grade teacher who introduced me to puns. Thank you Suzie, I am glad you enjoyed the post.
