Words have power....

Updated on May 8, 2012

God has been good to me and gives me fresh revelation daily at this time, but fresh revelation is also daily correction and chastisement.

Today I write about an issue that I needed to first repent of myself, for my words are not always spoken from or for God, and I see the error of that and turn away.

Does that mean that I will never allow Satan to entrap me with anger on the forums again, or as I walk in the world.

Unfortunately I cannot guarantee that, but I will be keeping a shorter account of my words and actions, and that is a better start to any day!

Words have power, when we write them, when we speak them and when we hear them.

Gods commands to us are in word form initially, we read what God thinks and states about everything, and if we come to faith, we accept that God has given us the answers to life.

We may not understand the answer, nor possibly even the question, but we know that God does and He will explain to us when the time is right, which will be when we are worthy and trusted to know and not abuse the information provided.

Once we are in faith, then the idea (Gods idea) is that we walk with Him 'in the garden'..... God has created us to be His pleasure and companions, which we will find strange at first, never having had that relationship before we meet with God and are in filled with His Holy Spirit.

Unfortunately there are many people who will speak negatively about hearing from God or listening to what His Holy Spirit tells us to do.

At most times in history just telling folk that God spoke to you would have been sufficient to warrant a stay in some mental hospital or worse, being burnt at the stake.

Satan's best deception has been to persuade half the world that he does not exist, and the other half that God does not speak to us.

He (Satan) also is an excellent mimic, and will counterfeit Gods voice to further spread confusion and doubt about hearing from God.

From the start in the Garden he has been whispering "Did God really say that" and we have been doubting Gods words because we listen to Satan.

Words have power, we must be sure that the words we listen to come from God and are confirmed by the Holy Spirit, and equally we must be sure that the words we speak or write, also come from God and have been confirmed by the Holy Spirit.

Watch this and reflect on what is said...

Ultimately we will be judged upon whether we listen to and acted on the words of God or the lies of Satan.

Every word we speak, we are responsible for, it's clearly stated that we will answer for every idle word, God weighs our words carefully and hears EVERY word that we speak.

When we open our mouth verbally or in text, we either speak for God or Satan, we either honour God or empower Satan, our words matter, to God.....and to Satan.... for those words will dictate our destiny.

The most frightening verse in the bible is where Christ says, depart from me, I never knew you. It is especially worrying as those being told to depart are stating that they have done good works in His name.

How can that be?

How can a loving God dismiss someones works and tell them to depart from my presence?

Simply because no matter what good works we do, if they were our idea, they are 'filthy rags' to God, for when we do other than that which God tells us to do, we are in rebellion, whether we are listening to Satan and doing his works, or listening to ourselves and doing what we think is 'good'.

Words are important....God wants us to ONLY use His words in ours and others lives.

Have you ever heard a parent say to their child "You're stupid, you'll never make anything of yourself" or even worse, heard it yourself.

The parent has authority over that child, with authority comes responsibility, the two things are inextricably linked.

So when the parent says those words, the child will be affected, by saying those words the parent gives the authority to Satan to inflict the 'curse' spoken onto the childs life.

Can you imagine God telling a child "You're stupid, you'll never make anything of yourself"?

NO!

So that being the case, who would wish to speak those words over their child? - who is putting those words into the parents mouth and thoughts.

Scripture tells us that the tongue is the most difficult part of our body to control.

It's compared to the rudder of a ship.

The largest ocean tanker will be turned in whatever direction the rudder moves, so he that controls the rudder, controls the whole vessel.

God wants His hand on the rudder, not because He's a control freak, but because He knows where to steer the ship to a safe harbour.

He's the pilot who knows where every rock and wreck is hidden, and can guide you safely past them.

Only a fool would venture the oceans of life without a chart to follow and a destination to set course for.

Satan is a pirate, who will hijack your vessel if you let him into the control room and steer you away to plunder, then sink your life on the rocks of self determination.

The words that you speak will summon up the services of one or the other, you call on God or Satan with the words that you speak.

Choose wisely.

In the garden there were two trees, that of good and evil, and the tree of life.

We were warned not to eat from the tree of good and evil, we ignored that command and in doing so we were separated from the tree of life.

God sent Christ to allow us a route back to Him and the tree of life.

Why would you still eat from the tree of good and evil?

Each tree has a root that will feed the fruit that the tree produces, and we are what we eat, so where we eat from is important and will be displayed in our lives.

The tree of good and evil has a root in PRIDE and produces selfish acts, it declares "I AM LORD" and it's fruits are well known and evident everywhere we look:

Selfishness,Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5 18:21)

The tree of life has a root in humility and unselfishness, it declares 'JESUS IS LORD' and it's fruits are to be desired and worked for, they will feed you well:

Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Who would wish to reject these and eat from the bitter tree of knowledge?

When we read these things it is self evident, but when we walk into the world, it is soon forgotten, and believe me I am preaching for my benefit as much as yours dear reader, for I see the way that my words quench the Holy Spirit, and the damage they can inflict.

Gods word is a double edged sword, separating spirit from flesh, but it swings both ways, and when we wield it, we must ensure that we do so with love and under the commands of the Holy Spirit, we do not want to wield a sword for Satan, to weaken the word by our own deceptions and additions.

I will leave this hub with the typesetting instructions in Gods word, which also address how seriously God takes His word:

.......I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelations 22 18:19)

Speak softly but carry a large sword.
