Booster Seat For Toddlers And Young Children Reviewed

Updated on November 11, 2011

As a baby grows into a toddler there comes a need for booster seats. Much like sippy cups take babies from bottles to a normal drinking cup - a booster seat takes a child from the high chair to a normal seat at the dining table.

They're a great way to help your child grow and develop safely. One of the bigger issues, and one that concerns parents, is when to use one. A child that cannot sit or support his upper body correctly shouldn't be placed in anything other than a fully supportive high chair.

Once your baby is ready, you'll know. When he is, the top sellingbooster seats for eating and general use are featured below. They're the top rated seats, valued by parents for their practicality, safety aspects and their value for money.

Fisher-Price Healthy Care Deluxe Booster Seat

This is by far the best booster seat for toddlers and babies. It's available in a choice of two color combinations - the one featured or blue, green and grey. It's a well designed seat - nice and streamlined, no cracks or crevices that will encourage the trapping of food and drink, plus it's a breeze to wipe over and keep clean.

It comes with two trays and one cover - the food and play tray can be kept covered (and clean) until you're ready to use them, and they're all fine to pop in the dishwasher. The seat folds up, which makes it transportable and it will safely hold a child up to 50lbs. It fits securely onto almost any dining chair and can be adjusted to three different levels to accommodate a variety of dining table heights. An awesome design, space saving and for under 25 dollars - highly recommended.

Fisher-Price Space Saver High Chair

This booster seat is actually a based on a high chair design. It's meant to be used as a space saving baby feeding chair and it does everything a normal high chair does - supports young babies, reclines and adjusts - without taking up more room than necessary.

It's available in two designs and can, once baby has grown, be quickly and safely turned into a booster seat. Like the previous product it will adapt and fit securely to almost any dining chair, as well as keep babies and toddlers safely strapped in whilst they're feeding or playing. The tray can be wiped over or popped in the dishwasher, and the seat-pad is machine washable. More expensive than the Healthy Care seat but - you're getting a chair that will take you from baby to toddler-hood so, simply put ... it's a great high chair booster seat combo and good value for money overall.

Safety 1st Comfy Cushy Baby Seat

This is a fun booster seat that's high on function and quality - and great for babies that are big for their age yet able to support their upper body. The semi-high back and cushioned foam seating are perfect for keeping baby snug, secure and comfortable - and the parent tray is a novel yet useful feature.

It will adapt to most chairs and secures baby by way of a three point safety harness. It's a snap to clean - like the first product the design flows, no places for food to become trapped and cause germs to gather and multiply. It's more expensive than the Fisher Price Healthy Seat and, if your baby/toddler is an average size - that's the better value for money buy. But, if you need a chair that's more accommodating - this one is the top pick.

Inglesina 2010 Fast Table Chair

This is the best table booster seat. It fits directly onto the edge of a dining table and can be used at home - or anywhere that you choose to eat. It's great for eating out or when dining with family and friends at their house - it's lightweight, portable and collapses easily.

The design is comfortable and the back and sides are nicely padded. The arms (that fit onto the table) are equally well padded and won't damage table tops. There's a neat little pocket in the back of the seat, great for stowing wipes or utensils if you're eating out, and it's available in a range of four different colors. A great choice if you need a portable seat and a wipe down after each use will keep it clean. Light, user-friendly and good for babies up to 33lbs.

Graco Blossom Booster Seat

This is another cheap booster seat that does a great job of seating babies and toddlers safely at the dining table. Again - it will securely attach to any chair and the three point safety harness provides a safe anchor once your baby is seated. The seat back is adjustable, great for helping babies at different stages of development and height, and it's easy to clean and care for.

It's a great choice of seating if you're looking for something that seats baby directly at the table and the cushioned feet and design prevent damage from scrapes and scratches. The straps can be removed and washed by hand or in a washing machine and overall the Graco Blossom is well designed, functional and a good choice for those wanting a booster seat that's simple, affordable and comfortable.
