Who is Chris Kamara?

Chris Kamara is a retired English defender/midfielder, who played for 11 different clubs during his 20 year career, culminating in his final season at Bradford City in 1995.

Kamara, often known as Kammy, then went on to have a brief stint in football club management at both Bradford City and Stoke City, before being offered the role he has possibly become most famous for, as presenter and football analyst for British satellite television giant Sky Sports.

Early Life & Playing Career

For the Sky Sports generation, it's easy to forget that Chris Kamara had a long and eventful playing career. Born in 1957 in Middlesborough, Chris served in the Royal Navy, before becoming a professional footballer in 1975.

Kamara scored 71 goals in 641 league games - an impressive tally for a combative midfielder, although he did start his career as a striker.

Controversial Behaviour

Kammy gained notoriety in 1988, after becoming the first English player to be convicted of GBH, breaking Shrewsbury Town striker Jim Melrose's cheekbone with a single punch after the full-time whistle at a match.

If you aren't from the UK, or perhaps don't follow modern football here, you may assume that Chris Kamara's Best Bits would be archived footage of his greatest moments as a player. There may, indeed, be footage in the archives of Kammy performing miracles Pele could only dream about.
