Chinese Astrology

Chinese astrology has beenn deeply rooted in Chinese culture for centuries. Normally, when someone is asked for their age, most likely they will tell you their zodiac animal sign instead of telling you their exact age. Chinese astrologer believe that one's zodiac sign has significant influence over one's future and personality. If compared to the 12 animal signs, Chinese astrology is much more complicated because it is not only determined by the year you were born but also the time of birth, the 5 elements and Yin/ Yang. In order to have an accurate prediction, Chinese astrology can be very detailed and specific. Until today, many Chinese people still rely on Chinese astrology as a reference for decisions about career, marriage, compabilities and personality. You should be amazed by how accurate Chinese astrology can be once you become familiar with it and apply it to the people you know and also to yourself.

An interesting facts about Chinese astrology is that it can be applied not only to people, but it can also be applied to countries, giving us elemental insight into national character and attitudes. It is no mere political or historical concidence. Let me take some of most popular or powerful countries for the examples;

Each country's zodiac animal signs
Each country's zodiac animal signs

China: People’s Republic of China, was born on 1st October 1949, in the year of the Yin Earth Ox. The Ox is one of the leader in the Chinese zodiac circle. The Ox is stubborn, traditional, authoritarian, rigid and can endure hardships. Ox is also one of the most hardworking animal in the Chinese zodiac, her motto is “Slow but sure” as Ox likes to do things step by step and doesn't really like shortcuts.

France: formed in the year 1958, under the sign of the Earth Dog. Dog may be the most likeable sign of all, it is a sign of justice and compassion. Dogs are patriot, truthful, intelligent, and straightforward with a strong sense of fairness and devotion. Many other zodiac animal signs take dog as their best friend or their favorite partner.

Canada: formed in 1967 (British North American Acts), under the year of the Fire Rabbit. Rabbits are one of the most delicate sign, they are gracious, peace-lover, quiet, sentimental and always try their best not to fight and solve any problems by their effective diplomatic ways.

Hongkong: established in 1842 (Treaty of Nanking), under the year of Water Tiger. Tigers symbolize power and pride, they are aggressive, brave, independent, open-minded, impulsive and arrogant. Tigers love to show their present and influence the others. The element of Water gives the Tiger a soothing characcteristic making this breed a bit more tranquil.

Israel: born in 1948, under the sign of the Earth Rat. Rats are the sign of charm and aggresiveness. It is very unlikely for you to find Rats sitting quietly doing nothing. These expressive and talkative Rats always planning for their next grand schemes. They are the quick doers who don’t like to spend so much time thinking. Rats are quick-witted, smart, sociable and like parties.

United States: born in the year 1776, under the sign of Fire Monkey. Monkey is the erratic geniuses of the Chinese zodiac cycle, they are the most active ones. Monkey is renowned for their amazing wit, tricks, strong-willed, show-off and their busy-body. Monkey is also the sign of inventor, improvisor and motivator. Fire Monkey is the most forceful of all types of Monkeys. Her motto would be “anything is possible”.

Former Soviet Union: born in the year 1917, under the sign of Fire Snake. Snake is one of the most powerful sign of Chinese zodiac. As many Chinese astrologers always believe that Snake and Monkey are not very compatible (animal signs that are 3, 6 or 9 years apart is believed to be conflict), therefore this probably makes Soviet Union and United States involved in a prolonged “Cold War” that was based on nnervous mistrust and covert activities. The country then was reborn as the Russian Federation in 1991, under the sign of the Metal Sheep. Sheep is the ‘Good Samaritan’ in the zodiac circle, Sheep is kind-hearted, sweet, gentle and compassionate, but will this make Russia become more conciliatory and peace-loving?
