Fine Dining In Delhi - Best Fine Dining Restaurants in CP Delhi

Cannaught place has been a Delhi's memorial to Prince Arthur William Patrick Albert, First Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, in contrast with Jawaharlal Nehru and has always been a place of choice for fine dining, fervent courtship, fraternal timepass, and frenetic shopping. Today, I will share with you my experiences of both the delicious street food joints and fine dining restaurants that are located in the bylanes and back-alleys of our very own “CP” in Delhi. Some restaurants that immediately come to mind when I think of eating out in CP (Cannaught Place) are the following:

KFC in CP – Best Kentucky Food in Delhi

If you are looking for a quick burger-and-fries, look no further than KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) in the inner circle of Connaught Place (this is one of the oldest and still the best KFC outlets in Delhi). KFCs Zinger Burger with cheese (I think Rs. 100 now) beats any hamburger that the likes of MacDonald’s, Nirula’s, or Wimpy’s, have to offer, hands down.

Wenger’s in CP - Best Bakery Delights in Delhi

Wenger’s is just steps away from KFC in CP and has been arguably the best bakery in Delhi. While almost everything they serve is great, in my opinion their mushroom patty goes spectacularly well with a milkshake from Keventers, located just round the corner.

Saravana Bhavan CP - Best South Indian Delight in Delhi

One of the best places to have vegetarian South Indian meals especially if you can avoid the lunch rush is Saravana Bhavan of Cannaught Place. This is an international chain of South Indian restaurants with two outlets in CP, one of which is on Janpath. I have yet to eat crisper, puffier and tastier vadas anywhere else. Their dosas, et al, are great too. Saravana Bhavan in CP is definitely preferred to the Sagar Ratna fare in CP.

United Coffee House in CP

United Coffee House has been one of the oldest eating joints in CP. This place is surely great to go to if budget is not a constraint and if you want to take your time over your meal. Besides being the oldest one, I would also say that United Coffee House is also one of the best fine dining restaurant in CP. UCH serves snacks, drinks, as well as substantial Italian, Mughlai, and continental menu. Also, a cutlet-worshipping uncle recently told me that they serve the best vegetable cutlets in Delhi. Haven't tried those, but I can recommend the tomato basil soup, the masala tea, and the mughlai food I have had with my friends there several times in my life. Beside this, I have heard many of my friends singing praises of UCH’s pastas, the sizzlers, and even the sandwiches. UCH is also a famous place among foreign travelers to Delhi who make up a substantial portion of the clientele at any given time. Probably, the best time to visit United Coffee House is in the afternoon, skip the lunch rush, take advantage of the happy hours at UCH in CP and you can easily grab some space on the ground floor, with its lounge-style seating lit by old world chandeliers.

Tibet Kitchen in CP

Tibet Kitchen is an innocuous little place, facing the Shivaji Stadium/Clock Tower Bus Terminal and in the back lane of P Block in CP. It’s a small Tibetan food joint, done up simply with bamboo partition walls and plastic foliage all over. Expect a lot of late‑70s, early-80s cheesy pop/rock music in the background (Billy Ocean was the flavor of the evening, last Wednesday) but that also, in a way, adds to the ambience. The menu is fairly comprehensive and the spread quite competent. So far, I've managed to sample the shredded/crispy chilly chicken, vegetarian manchurian, steamed vegetarian momos, hot and sour soup, fried rice and Chinese Chop Suey. All the dishes were awesome and delicious except, for chilly chicken starter that was just about average. They also serve a passable variety of fruit beer. The best part about this place is the price which is just Rs 150 to 175 INR per head. Our bill for a dinner for two, of the 3 times I've had food here, has not crossed 325 bucks (just a meager 7 dollar bill). They also deliver within Connaught Place for a minimum order of Rs 150.
