Guy Fawkes Day According to a kid
Just so you know...
Guy Fawkes Day/Night, is a British Holiday, usually accompanied by fireworks and bonfire night. It is celebrated on 5th November in celebration of the failed attempt by the Catholic conspirators, to destroy the House of Parliament.
Guy Fawkes was on the the conspirators.
This is a poem written by my little brother.
I was very, very surprised by it. It's pretty good I think .
It was even promoted from his book to the wall, where all the good stuff goes. He was very impressed with that!
During the Christmas fair I spotted it on the wall and felt proud and a little smug. My sister and I had a secret cool High fiving session.
He's eight and an avid lover of reading; the poem was part of a school assignment.
It was removed for the next batch of poetry based on another holiday, so I decided to share it with you.
Whizz! Fizz! Wallop! Bang!
There go the Catherine Wheels
Gold, red, green
Everywhere exploding.
Sparklers sizzling, owls hooting
"Cool!" said a kid
Watching fizzing fireworks banging in the air
Fizz, fireworks racing up in the night sky.
Fizz, wallop, bang, crash,cling, rumble
We celebrate Guy Fawkes for his plan
But he go caught.
So we thought of Bonfire Night
A great night for kids
Everywhere kids are really happy
To have bonfire night.
People see and hear the fireworks
Getting ready for sleeping time
So hooray, hooray for bonfire day!
