How To Keep Your Car Clean

As a mother of two young children, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to keep my new SUV clean. It’s not just the kids either. My husband is just as bad (if not worse than) as the children. I’m constantly cleaning up after all three of them.

I like driving a clean car. I don’t like clutter or garbage in the floor. I especially don’t like a smelly car. Worse yet, I really dislike having to clean up after three other people besides myself. So I’ve figured out some super simple ways to keep my vehicle clean without having to spend hours in the heat to do it.

If you’ll follow these three simple tips, you should find that you will be able to spend much less time doing major clean-ups in your car. I’ve cut mine down to once a month. Sometimes I can even go two months before having to pull out the vacuum cleaner for the mats. Here are my tips:

Take something out each time you exit the vehicle. This is something that even your kids can do. If there’s a piece of crumpled tissue or stray plastic bag from your list trip to Wal-Mart, grab it and chunk it when you get out of your car.

Keep a small baggie in your car for trash. You can find travel-size garbage bags for your car in the automotive section at Wal-Mart. These are especially handy if you travel very much. When you use these baggies, don’t let them stay in your car for longer than two weeks. Otherwise, you’re defeating the whole purpose of keeping a clean car.

Use Armor All wipes for quick clean-ups. I absolutely love these and highly recommend them. Before I had children I used to buy the Armor All spray and use it with a soft cloth to clean the interior of my cars. After I discovered the pre-soaked handy wipes, I haven’t gone back to the spray. These are super easy to grab and wipe down your dash and doors in under two minutes.
