I am a Hairstylist and Hair Color Specialist of 20 + years. I have fine hair that was at one time thining and receding at the hair line. I believed as most did that my 'fine and thinning hair' was a by product of my father He started loosing his hair rather young, around 40 years old. The Shampoo (cleanse) and Conditioner (scalp therapy) work on the hair follicle.inside the scalp) Compare to a planted flower Under the soil is the flower's root system. If the root is not properly nourished, it will not grow well then look close to dead, then die. If the flower gets fed the wrong food, it will not be full or vibrant. It needs sun, moisture and boost for the root system to thrive.Hair is similar to the root system. in a flower.The blood circulates in the scalp and nutrients flow through the hair follicle, which is the hair root. If the follicle is clogged up with oils or paraffin or is too tight the blood can not reach the follicle. Eventually the root will die and thining hair or hair loss will occur. Please do not confuse hair loss with alopecia.

In alopecia hair follicles are mistakenly attacked by a person's own immune system (white blood cells), resulting in the arrest of the hair growth stage. Alopecia Aerata usually starts with one or more small, round, smooth bald patches on the scalp and can progress to total scalp hair loss or complete body hair loss (Alopecia universals) In some case the hair may regrow. Nioxin does not work on the auto immune disease

Nioxin can be found in fine Hair Salons or professional Hair Product outlets. In as little as two weeks you will start to see new hair growth. You hair will be managable and shinny. Millions of prayers have been answered. I Thank God for the two hairstylists and chemist that formulated the concept then developed the product.

My hair will always be of fine texture. I did inherit finer hair, but not hair loss Products loaded with a high-pH value dry out the hair making it brittle and damaged. Eventually the hair follicle is dried out and when that happens thinning hair or hair loss take place. Paraffin was (DHA) is prominent in hair products purchased at a 'store'. Paraffin (wax) preserves the shelve life. You can imagine what paraffin does on the hair (build up) it also plugs the follicle with oils from the parafin. The blood will not flow through to the root to feed it. My parents used Prell, Suave or Brylcreem. It is no wonder there was balding or hair loss. They were ignorant of the damage on the hair follicle. Hair science has come a long way. Professional products do not carry any of the high pH values or paraffin wax. The shelf life for a professional product is around two yeas. If you see professional products in a discount store such as Target, Rite Aide, or Walmart they are not guaranteed. These stores are not 'allowed' to carry professional products but with lack of control by the Board of Cosmetology they get away with it all the time. The product could be outdated, diluted and or possibly purchased from a warehouse that sold out, or a salon that shut down. Most professional products have 'no guarantee' embedded on the bottle, if not purchased at a 'Hair Salon' or reputable retail 'Hair Outlet'.' My recommendation is to purchase professional Hair Care lines in a Salon or licensed hair retail outlet.

I have twice to three times the amount of hair then in 1992. Products such as Rogaine not a shampoo) are very expensive and can work but the moment you stop using the product the hair will start thinning or falling out again.To date I believe there ar 4 topical lines sold to the consumer. They work on the scalp (not a shampoo) and work on the follicle. Since individuals need to shampoo thier hair the concept in a shampoo line is genius in hair science. Nioxin is made exclusively for fine, thinning hair and or hair loss on natural or chemically treated hair.There is a formula for your hair type.The difference in the hair is amazing. Based on my experience and what I have used the 'wanna' be hair loss shampoo and conditioner do not work nearly as well as Nioxin.There was no comparison to what the Nioxin does for my hair.

Many people that are stressed out have a tight scalp.The stress causes the root in the scalp to tighten up .If the follicle is tightened up it does not get the proper blood flow that carry nutrients to the follicle. The hair can suffer and fall out. If the individual has healthy,thicker hair when they get through the stressful time the hair loss will usually stop. This is not so true in finer hair cases. If you have little hair to loose this could make for allot more stress to see the hair come out in the sink, shower, brush or hands. Nioxin works not only on the hair on your scalp but the follicle under your scalp. The scalp is invigorated with the product and keeps the blood flowing into the follicle. So when you are stressed your hair will not fall out with proper use of Nioxin..I am eternally grateful for this product. Many lives have turned around and individuals are much happier.

Change in diet or lack of a diet causes the hair follicle to tighten up because it is not getting proper nourishment from food sources. Nioxin helps allot when the diet is changed but eventually any source of health in you will deplete if you do feed it healthy food. Anorexia or Bulimia individuals usually have very damaged, brittle and or fine hair. When and if they get healthy again Nioxin helps boost the condition of the scalp and the hair comes to life allot faster.

Certain Medications can deplete the hair follicle system of the healthy nutrients. Some medication's build up on the hair, causing dryness and possible hair loss. Nioxin is amazing when used in this scenario. The hair usually comes alive if the medications have drained it. In instance's of chemo therapy the patient may start on the cleanse and therapy right away but in my experience they did loose the hair. It may have taken a bit longer. I do know that after treatment with use of Nioxin all have come back with hair to cut, very quickly. It usually comes back curly as well. The chemo straightens the follicle and it drops off but it does not kill it forever. After the treatment the follicle comes back to life.

The cost is not cheap at the onset but in the LONG run it is very cost effective. 16 ounces of Nioxin Cleanse is around $18.00 and 16 ounces of Scalp Therapy around $28.00. There are formulas for chemically treated or natural hair, thin or course hair. A dime size of Cleanse is sufficient for most heads. A nickle size of Scalp Therapy is good for most heads. The product does last a long time. 16 ounces could last around 3 months, shampooing every day. You can shampoo every day. It is recommended, but not necessary. The smell is a light scented mint which wakes up the senses. It is delightful. You can feel it working on the scalp, there is a tingle effect. It leaves the hair manageable and shinny. You will have more hair soon. If the hair follicle has died off you will not loose any more hair. The every day use speeds up the growing process to a beautiful, healthy head of hair.
