least amount required
57least amount required
by a. gagliardi
look at life as a minimalist
give nothing back
as little effort as possibly -
scrape by
(barely)
do the job in it’s barest
infinitesimal effort
with ‘a lick & a promise’
call it good.
(then)
as if putting forth would be a sin
just show up
create the space
(but)
don’t go in.
author notes
This poem is a commentary about people who live life giving nothing of themselves to others, to their job, to community, etc.
I wrote it without capitalization and lacking punctuation to accentuate the idea of how little
is required of the 'least amount'.
