In the beginning when God created the heaven and the earth, there was darkness. God said, Let there be light: and there was light, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and seasons, and for days and years: ... And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser to rule the night: he made the stars also (Genesis 1:14,16). Thus God created the sun and moon to give light to the world of darkness.

The world depends on God's wonderful gift of light provided by the sun by day for visibilty and work by day, and the moon helps to shine during the night prolonging visibility for those who work the night shift. For thousands of years, God lovingly supplies light for the inhabitants of this world to live in and enjoy God's grace of light.

The sun also provides heat for humans and helps plants to proliferate. Animals like human beings need heat from the sun to keep warm and light to dispel darkness in order to see. Without light, we cannot see anything and nothing grows. The sun is most essential for life on the earth.

The sun demonstrates that the world is teeming with life. Plants tend to grow vigorously, and human being are happy and bright. Without sunlight, everything seem to slow down. Trees loose their leaves in winter when they hibernate for a period. When the sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the children seem to laugh, dance and play happily around more. It also affects the mood of the adults. When there is no sun, people tend to grumble more due to lack of heat.  They also tend to move more quickly from place to place because they feel cold and are also more cold towards their neighbours.

Light also affects the weather dividing the year into seasons, spring, summer, fall and winter when men have to adapt according to the weather wearing more heavier clothing for the winter and less for summer. Eating habits also are regulated by the seasons.

The light from the sun and moon does have a bearing on the days and years. God has also decided on the reckoning of day and night. A day starts when the sun goes down and rises up. In other words, a day is from sundown to sundown.

Genesis 1:5,8,13,19,23,31

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

And the evening and the morning were the third day.

God called all the six evenings and mornings as days, and He rested on the seventh day, blessing and sanctifying it as His Sabbath. This is the origin of days.

Throughout the ages, there were eclipses of the sun and moon, but this year there was a special eclipse of the sun as shown in YouTube over India. An eclipse is "the total or partial obscuration of the light from a heavenly body the passage of another body between it and the source of its light." (Concise English Dictionary).

The world is getting more and more corrupt, people killing people over minor disagreements, lusts, all manner of greed, envy and the like. It has been about 2,000 years that Jesus came into the world to save sinners and died for our sins. Nothing much has changed since then, people are still killing people and greed has reach high heaven that America the great, is now in recession, and unemployment has reached very high levels.

There is much fighting around the world, Afghanistan, North against South Korea, sectarian Iraqi killing a different sect. Sri Lanka is fighting against her own people and Israel has been fighting for about 60 years with the Palestinians.

Jesus warned the people that Judgment Day would come like in the days of Noah but no man would know the day or the hour (Matthew 24:36-39; Luke 17:26).

In Luke Chapter 21:25 Jesus forewarned the people, "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

^[26]Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

^[27]And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

^[28]And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh."

WARNING TO BABYLON

Warning was given to the sinners in Babylon that "the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible" (Isaiah 13:10-11).

WARNING TO EGYPT

"And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars therefore dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light (Ezekiel 32:7).

God is very merciful to the inhabitants of the world for He allows mankind to change for the better and allows man plenty of time to change. God prepares, God hopes, and God fulfils His promise. Time is of the essence. Man is doomed if he does not heed the warning!

Warnings were given to Egypt, Babylon, and all evil doers but they heeded not in the past.  Once again, God gives signs before He completely destroys the world for disobedience.  Many see the signs but they ignore them to their own detriment.  However, some will heed God's warning and reap the reward of salvation.  Praise the Lord God and thank the Lord for His great patience He has shown His elect.
