A Chance To Explore- a poem
Reaching Heights
There are challenges of a young person entering adulthood. Starting out with self confidence and with no fears and intimidation can compare to the flight of a young bird in the sky. This poem is a creative way of looking at the bravery of a little bird. We all go through a challenge with every new adventure of life. Perhaps the confidence of a bird will inspire us to be able to reach heights.
Fly away,
On little wings.
The sky is calling out
For your wings to
Spread and Grow.
Time to leave that
Little Cornered Nest,
For you have outgrown its
Sheltering boundaries
And it has outgrown you.
Where you will go is
Beyond the trees and
Behind the clouds.
Stretch your wings
And take off.
Don't be afraid,
Feathered Beauty,
The Widened air is
All for you.
You were made to live
in such a wide open sky.
And the sky was made
To be explored by
Little birds like you.
Don't look back
To the nest.
Or the old tree
Where you were born.
Those things will
Always be there
Waiting for another bird
To take its place.
But each bird will outgrow
The nest and the tree
Just as you did.
Yet the nest
Will always be the same
The tree will be
Bigger and older.
So, if you wish,
Little bird,
Come back to the tree.
Later,
after you explore
Your new life in the sky,
You can see how the
Other birds have roosted
And then outgrown the nest.
In the sky, as you fly
The tree will
Become the horizon
And be like a border
To your new life.
It will look different
From afar.
Don't let the tree get
In the way as it grows.
The sky is always wider
When you are in it.
As the sky appears
Vast and new
The tree will
Always remain
The same,
Strong and tall
Firm in its roots
Awaiting for
Another Bird
Like you.
