A season passing
A sheet of frost across the ground
Autumn shades of gold and brown
A passing breeze chills brisk the air
The winter warlock his presence bares
Trees shoot up from barren ground
Their orange leaves and yellow boughs
Offer to this morning’s light
A truly wondrous and pleasing sight
Birds from the north in woods abound
Sending forth their melodic sounds
To us give peaceful tranquility
Sweet tones up to God, offering
Blue skies fall from up above
Beckoning the turtle dove
Clouds of white float aimlessly
Across the abyss of skyward sea
A season starts as another ends
One cycle stops as one begins
Earths creatures call the mating song
And send forth an heir to carry on
Ancestral bones of long ago
Embedded in the ebb and flow
Serve to offer for the young
A path to guide and carry on
Yet all this change to come around
With faint its touch remiss of sound
Would not pause the earth from spinning round
or change its pattern nor shift its ground
God placed his design upon this earth
When life is lost, to death from birth
That from example we might see
His plan for all humanity
For what is there if nothing more
To live and die no future store
As blocks laid on hardened sand
Children on our lessons stand
But for us God sent forth his heir
A show of love and heartfelt care
And give forth an opportunity
That binds of sin would we be free
