Annoying little bastard.

I am entombed,above ground,in a prison of flesh~William Powers~

Annoying little bastard

Wont leave me alone

Comes into my life

Comes into my home

Annoying little bastard

Sitting on my shoulder

Taunting teasing testing

As I am getting older

Annoying little bastard

Whispers in my ear

All the world will fade away

As I am drawing near

Annoying little bastard

Asks can you be so blind

You think you can defeat me

You think yourself divine

Annoying little bastard

Will take my life one day

He leads me out of slavery

To start me on my way

cheaptrick,

Is "annoying little bastard" death's constant reminder? I could definitely feel the frustration :-)

I especially like "He leads me out of slavery". That quick phrase opens up all sorts of images of freedom after life.

I like this.

Voted up and shared.

Sometimes, the only way out is to write it down. This has been in my head for a while...now it's in yours :)

Once again, coming to a beautiful bit of artwork so "lately" in the day.

But well worth the wait, really enjoy you deep connection, cheaptrick. Thank you.

I think most of us have an "annoying little bastard" to deal with. Some may call it their conscience, others something darker. Good poem.

"Life was not a valuable gift, but death was. Life was a fever-dream made up of joys embittered by sorrows, pleasure poisoned by pain, a dream that was a nightmare-confusion of spasmodic and fleeting delights, ecstasies, exultations, happinesses, interspersed with long-drawn miseries, griefs, perils, horrors, disappointments, defeats, humiliations, and despairs -- the heaviest curse devisable by divine ingenuity; but death was sweet, death was gentle, death was kind; death healed the bruised spirit and the broken heart, and gave them rest and forgetfulness; death was man's best friend; when man could endure life no longer, death came and set him free.
