Another Surprise Along The Way

Updated on June 1, 2013

Some Things We Can't Explain

In life we make plans sometimes we never get to follow through

I once had a thought that I shared with my mother

She always loved photos and over the years we had many

To often they were boxed up and stored away

In scrapbooks they lay

Photo albums that held the love so many have experienced over the years

With family and friends

Special events and weddings that started the beginning for new young couples

That were starting out their lives filled with promise and a bright future

I thought wouldn't it be wonderful if we pulled out those pictures and shared each memory again

Life has a way of keeping us so busy

We forget and our time gets consumed like a garbage disposal swollowing up all the table scraps from a left over meal

Soon there is no sign or mention of a dinner so welcomed and enjoyed so much

Where every bite seemed more delicious than the one before

The idea was to take the pictures out of those sun faded albums

Where those black tabs that hold the picture tight

Have lost their stickiness and have fallen with the pictures

Now both scattered between the pages that were suppose to keep them safe

Look at them and have fun with them

Laugh once more as if each moment as if it was happening now

Seeing all our love ones who have passed

Rekindling the memories that made each moment stand out

Even going so far as to making it a game

Writing on the back of each picture the time and the place

That only you would know

So each treasured event never escapes

Once again it was not long where we leave each picture to fate

We are silly creatures who wait

The days pass and the next time we think of it

It is too late

Now we see the scrapbooks and only good intentions

Each picture holds a blank stare

The picture is still visible and clear

Only the people have no names or dates

What a shame things weren't done differently

Now we learn from our mistakes and wish we knew a way

To undo what has been done

The facts speak for themselves

The events in our lives have altered our life

The one we live daily

Seeing what we know to be true

That was then and we can't change our present outcome

We can move forward and only make each new dream last

By carrying out our plans before they disappear by the end of the day

Giving ourself a chance to do incredible things

Using our God given talents that only come from deep within
