BigEzine Pirates

It's been a busy day for me

and I will tell you why...

There are some thieves among us

and, today, I don't feel shy.

I got a shock the other day,

a shock that was upsetting...

a friend informed me, straight away,

of a crime I'm not forgetting.

It had been a month or three

since my Muse had gone away,

and suddenly, two days ago,

right in she did sashay.

And so, I wrote three little poems,

three Hubs I did produce...

But, then, my friend sent me a note

that made me quite obtuse!

Hubpages is a writer's site

where writers go to share...

a “Pirate” site has pilfered them

and published stolen fare!

Low and behold, I found my work

upon a varlet site,

credited to authors that

claim what they did not write!

And I am not the only one

whose writing there appeared...

there were lots of Hubbers' work

that have been commandeered!

Stolen words and stolen thoughts

of talented cuisine,

are posted there for all to see

all claimed by BigEzine!

An article directory, who

it seems can't write a word,

has stolen all our precious hubs,

with bogus claims absurd!

So after thought and sleuthing,

Some footwork became clear,

I drafted up a letter of

DMCA veneer

And sent it out to every place

I thought made any sense,

And maybe it won’t matter but

Now the world sees this offense.

And I feel less the victim when

I speak up for our rights…

But if I ever meet these rogues

I may punch out their lights!

Wonderful rhyming. Theft of content drives me insane. Thanks for publishing this.

AudreyHowitt, I so know...I spent hours going through that site's content and found alot of familiar work from my friends at Hubpages. I am hoping that every last one of them submit DMCA complaints, which is what Hubpages team recommends.

I feel so out of the loop... what is the website that is stealing from our writers, if I may ask? This is so upsetting :(

Thanks for posting this! It happened to me too. They stole one of mine and I felt so violated. Great writing on this topic. I just started hubbing about five days ago, and then this happens. Faith Reaper

Faith Reaper, It was my pleasure, really. Welcome to Hubpages, its a great community of writers and I have definitely grown and evolved as a person and a writer as a result of it. I personally signed up with and will register each individual piece I post from now on. I have been told that just by publishing my work here it is copyrighted but obviously that doesn't matter much. Check it out and see what you think.

amithak, Yeah the response has not been great...I have gotten NO response concerning the complaint I files and as of yesterday my stuff was still on ezine.....apparently this site is unreachable...or just plain has no ethics!

I filed a complaint with them as well, and no response.

Highly unethical! Faith Reaper

I was checking on and discovered a couple of my articles have been republished other places. *Sigh* looks like I have to go through this mess too.

Thanks for this... I think the further we dig the deeper the path will run... and there seems to be little one can do to stop it... just keep up the fight...

Great words here and touching all who read...

Thanks, Rolly, I fear you are absolutely correct and there does seem little one can do....the only consolation I have, and this is just me, is the I believe it is a universal truth that you reap what you sow in this life and what goes around comes around...the powers behind ezine will get theirs eventually. I appreciate you. Have a blessed Easter!

nochance, I am sorry to hear that. It doesn't feel very good, to be sure.I signed up with and although Im told it is not needed, I just feel better doing it. Once you sign up with them, and its free, every original piece you register with them is assigned a specific number and date. A legal proof of copyright on the record. When you then publish it, that number is right there. Something to think about...Take care and Happy Easter!

I'm definitely gonna be doing that. I just want to keep my bases covered.

I LOVE IT. If there's one thing I can't stand it's thieves. And two of my hubs that I know of were stolen by two different "authors" on this site. Pathetic, really. But loved the poem and it said it exactly right. Thanks!

Awesome poem. I didn't know about BigEzine until last night. I tried to search for them, but I couldn't find a site with any articles.

How did you find out and where would I go to do the same?

tnderhrt23 profile image

Tams R, the ezine site is down. I got a comment on Toxic Romance, from poohgranma, with the link where my poem could be found. After some sleuthing around that cheesy site, I found two more of my poems and a host of other hubber's work all posted under other writers names. That is when we all started our writing campaigns filing DMCA complaints. I am glad you did not have to go through that mess, it was really disturbing and we are all super happy that ezine is off the map!
