Review:
Characters:
The main characters in this book are America, Aspen, and Prince Maxon.
America is a very outspoken girl and she stands for what she believes in. She is very determined and independent. Aspen is a regular boy who is a hardworker. He will do anything for America; he really cares about her and wants the best for her. And then there is Prince Maxon, the prince. He is a nice person, but America doesn't it know it yet because his personality doesn't really translate through her Television, and she just gets the wrong impression of him because he is the prince.
Society:
Illea is a society that is built up of castes. Each caste has a specific group of people. There are eight castes in total that determine where everyone stands financially.
The first caste is for the royal family. And the lowest caste is the eighth one, which is for people who are disabled and homeless, or the runaways.
America is actually from the fifth caste, while Aspen is in the sixth caste. Prince Maxon is in the first caste, obviously.
Brief Summary:
The book starts out with America's mom telling her to sign up to be a part of 'The Selection' where the prince chooses one girl to be his wife out of 35 other girls.
America does not want to be a part of 'The Selection'. She is already in love, so why does she need to be a part of it, right? Well, the first part is that her parents don't know that she is secretly dating a boy, and on top of that, someone below her caste. And that person is Aspen.
America ends up signing up to be a part of it, and the only reason was because her mom told her she could start working on her own and keep her money. And because Aspen told her she should do it.
And after that, Aspen told America that their relationship isn't right because he doesn't want her to suffer through life being a Six. Aspen wants the best for her, and then he told her they should breakup.
But then she ends up getting chosen to be one of the 35 girls.
What will happen to their relationship? Is it over? Is Maxon going to sweep America off her feet?
My Thoughts:
I highly recommend this book! It is a very quick read and the story is unique and adorable. This book is great if you like watching The Bachelor or Are You The One! So grab a snack and a cup of tea and enjoy this read! It will definitely be worth it!
