Caged & Trapped
Break the RUSTY CAGE & Run - Thks Brian!
Written 12/13/2012
There she is, Lying cold and alone
The moon reflecting off of her skin
As she shines from within
Not aware of how desperately I would like to come in
So close, yet not close enough to touch
Just a stone's throw
Just out of my reach
& I wonder if loving someone I can't have
has some kind of lesson to teach
She lies there, needing
Too tired to rise
With no earthly clue
Of the love in my eyes
Needing a hero
Needing my love & my caress
Needing my strength
& the warmth of my breath
I sit here wanting to give these things to her
I sit, trapped in silence, her faithful caged bird
A slave to the choices I made long ago
A slave to the life which refuses to let me go
Perched in the window, pained by my view
I watch loneliness grip her, intending to tare her in two
Here stuck by the window I sit
The worst is there is nothing that I can do
She's unaware that she has never been alone
She's unaware that she has melted that which once was stone
She doesn't know that before her, I just didn't care
Or that I awake daily to thoughts of being with her over there
The worst for me has yet to come
Her unique charm calls out to the rare
Those who can see her heart & begin to care
Caged in my window, I'll be forced to stare
As others attempt to heal her, win her, and take my spot there
I envy the free, who next to her would sit
It drives me insane and I can't bear it
Because tho I am trapped here, my heart is with her in all her glory
& that seems to be the only ending to this, my sad story
