Cherry Pie

Atop a glass pedestal
Transparent dome to shield
Berries glistening invite your eye
Fragrant fruit entices
Served up like a piece
Of pie
Pass it to the left
Plenty to go around
Just carve her into smaller bits
To refuse is not her nature
Plunge your fork in deep
Confection to please the masses
Impossible
What, too sweet?
Too tart?
Push back your plate
Your palate dictates
Your pleasure, as ever
The only goal
Condemned not for what she does
But what she doesn’t do
Live up to your
Expectations
