Cherry Pie

By Mr. Ducke on Flickr
By Mr. Ducke on Flickr

Atop a glass pedestal

Transparent dome to shield

Berries glistening invite your eye

Fragrant fruit entices

Served up like a piece

Of pie

Pass it to the left

Plenty to go around

Just carve her into smaller bits

To refuse is not her nature

Plunge your fork in deep

Confection to please the masses

Impossible

What, too sweet?

Too tart?

Push back your plate

Your palate dictates

Your pleasure, as ever

The only goal

Condemned not for what she does

But what she doesn’t do

Live up to your

Expectations

Another great one RB...have been reading some of your others as well...will comment later. Just wanted to be the first here for you like you have been for me in the past. I see that said in my fan section each time I look at my profile :-)

Beat me to it RB, I think I need to rewrite my hub on the great British Dessert Trifle!

My, my Blue you are quick on the draw. :)

Gypsy, now you have me curious, I'll have to go see.

Ms.Behavior, Me thinks RBlue had his mouse in his hand the whole time he was reading it..Kinda like a game show - the first one to buzz in wins!! LOL.. anyhooo, back to the pie.. cherry, my personal favorite, but now I will wonder what the pie is thinking! I'm too curious.. just eat the pie and enjoy it would be the sweetest thing of all.. Crap that didn't come out the way I intended either!

Randy Behavior profile image

Randy Behavior 7 years ago from Near the Ocean Author

Candie, Its tragic, so often the pie's thoughts and feelings aren't even considered.

Candie V 7 years ago from Whereever there's wolves!! And Bikers!! Cummon Flash, We need an adventure!

I know, right! But it's time for a change!! Wonder if saltines have a problem with being stuffed in mouths in groups of 7 then being whistled out by 8 year olds at camp.

LOL! Not sure even how to respond :)

I like pie. =]

AIDY, and if you aren't overly demanding of it, I'm sure the pie likes you too!

NT, tragic in futility, lovely to attempt?

Not Telling profile image

Not Telling 7 years ago from Eastern Nowhere

The character tragic

The verse lovely

The poetess sublime

The poem vivid

The reader enjoyed

It's good to be on good terms with your dessert of choice.. makes it much more enjoyable!

Cherry Pie and Randy behavior. Hmmm what a combo. As with most foods, the pie must be savored. Eaten with relish. So tantalizing on the tongue. The plate licked clean with abandon. Foods to be eaten deserve appreciation for sliding onto the plate. I could go for a slice of pie now. Ala mode or Ala carte. ;)

Randy Behavior profile image

Randy Behavior 7 years ago from Near the Ocean Author

Well now NT, I like your dissection of it.

Candie, you're cracking me up.

Randy Behavior profile image

Randy Behavior 7 years ago from Near the Ocean Author

Paper Moon, you are it appears, a great lover of pie. I think you need to read my lollipop poem though... another dessert option.

A pie

Sliced, whipped or beaten

Loves nothing more

Than to be eaten

I see your poetry HAS been going well, and this entry to your growing body of work does not disappoint, but refreshes, titillates, and satiates.

Janetta 7 years ago

ah Christoph is quite the poet too, I see ;)

great poem Randy! I liked this a lot :D

Randy Behavior profile image

Randy Behavior 7 years ago from Near the Ocean Author

My, My Christoph, your four lines has me blushing.

Janetta, Thanks for reading. I'd say that boy has earned a slice ;)

I read this without the sexual connotation first, and figured you must have somehow gotten access to what's going on in my head.

The second time I read it, my husband wanted to know why I kept saying "Wow".

I love it the ironey at the end..."Live up to your expectations". randy, I am so glad that you and I have never met in person..the fantasy of you would ruin any such union. Fantasy is always far and away grearer than reality, but without dreams we would stilll be finger painting on cave walls. Your Rock Girl!

As with all things, it's how we look at them. If we ever stop to do so. Nice! :D

I could do with some pie right now with a little cream mmmmm. Finger licking good.

Randy Behavior profile image

Randy Behavior 7 years ago from Near the Ocean Author

Laughing Mom, your first read was probably closer to what I intended. As with everything I write there is that second meaning too but the first meaning is what drove me to write it.

Trooper - There is nothing worse than falling off someone else's pedestal.

Cris - Thanks for your comments, they're always "nice" to see. ;)

I'm glad you read this one BC.

Oh blonde, why do you make eating pie sound naughty?

"Oh my...I do like Cherry Pie!" However...as in the case with Lollipops...Now...I will be wondering through images of plunging my fork in deep...the next time I am treated to Cherry Pie. You have quite a way with edible topics, RB!

Candie V profile image

To share a dessert with Christoph... *sigh*..

Randy Behavior profile image

Randy Behavior 7 years ago from Near the Ocean Author

Well thank you manly! I do like my edibles, especially something I've never tasted before.

Candie, Yes you and me both on that score.  I hear he's quite the cook too.

BC, I am well. I'm glad you found the meaning here.

Ohhh Randy forgive me for making it sound so wicked, did it come out that way?, ohhhh, I had no idea ROFL. :) I am but a innocent wee blonde....

Very sexy, your new avatar!

Randy Behavior profile image

Randy Behavior 7 years ago from Near the Ocean Author

Thanks Elena, I looked about 100 pie pics, trying to find a sexy one. You're the first to comment on it.

And you like my new avatar too! Hey what happened to your 6 pack shot?...I guess the weekend is over.

Elena. profile image

Elena. 7 years ago from Madrid

Randy, that shot was mostly about legs -- you ain't seen my real six pack, shesh I couldn't find the ONE photo that proves I had it in me! But sent some nice "replacements" to KCC to prove my point!

Still, you're sexier, goddamit! Laugh!

Randy Behavior profile image

Randy Behavior 7 years ago from Near the Ocean Author

I doubt KCC ever doubted you ;)

I was told to put hips back up, so this avatar may be short lived.

Thanks for reading Waren. Its so very nice to meet you.

Lovely words but tinged with a certain sadness. Makes me think of prostitutes and strippers, divied up and used up until nothing is left. But, on a surface level, this makes me hungry -- I'm starving.

Interesting interpretation. I've never tried writing from anyone's perspective of life but my own though... so far.
