Disappearing From Existence...A NiaG Poem

Here I am, do you see me

I'm where you last left me

Standing on the edge of the background

No I'm not gone I'm still around

My voice echoes through your mind

You think I'm still there but I'm fading through time

I dream of friendships with someone new

Though long for those that I once knew

Did I force this distance, was I the one to change

If only I could stand in your gaze again

Time pushes on now I must go

The shell you once knew now you no longer know

Funny how time and distance changes some relationships but others when the friend returns is like they never left. I think that's how we know who was there for the season for a particular timeperiod in our lives and who are really the kindred spirit that become part of us for all eternity. Smile!

Thanks SimpleGiftsofLove! I sometimes feel this way since I've moved to KY. I only seem to keep in touch with my friends in TX when I visit which is about once a year. We get so busy in our lives it's hard to keep up with each other.

You're exactly right Carlon. It is somewhat of a test. Even in high school I only seemed to surround myself with those that are lasting friendships. Which I'm thankful for in someways I guess. Those that I kept up with then and in college I still talk to today but we're still distant and not as close as I would like.

Thanks rebeccamealey. :0) That's kind of you to say. They come to me in the morning and if I don't write 'em down I forget 'em just like that. That's what getting older does I guess. Ha! Have a good day!

I really enjoyed this, you have some very good talent, I look forward to reading more of your poems. Hopefully they won't all make me as sad as this one :P

Awww, thanks chuckbl. I don't think they're all sad so far. Sorry. Some do give you a little chuckle. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!
