Early Morning And A Long Day

Updated on May 23, 2012

Can I See A Show Of Hands ?

Just What I thought

Everyones hand went up

We all live busy lives

Trying to decide what to do first

Get the kids to school on time if your lucky

Wake up even earlier if your luckier

Feeling the emotion of life trickle through every thought

We get so absorbed like a sponge that fills up with water

One good squeeze and we have a gallon of water come pouring out

What makes our day complete

For me it is when my day goes smooth without a hitch

I don't want to see a limb come tumbling down from a tractor tailer who went the wrong way

No I can do without something falling on my foot in work

Ouch that smarts

It isn't broken I go on like it never happened

I like to eat a good breakfast and a sensible lunch

One that is healthier

Then again two grill cheese sandwiches with chips and a pickle

Topped off with a really cold ice tea

When we round up the day to the best thought I can think of

It was texting a friend even if it was only two minutes in total

Life is not always a glorious as it seems

Sometimes our expectations are not fullfilled

There is always tomorrow where we touch on where we left off

Another day closer to retirement and I earned my bucks today

There was a scratch ticket I didn't win

But I kept my hopes up

Just once let me see a big winner

Then again it was a chance that I take

Like getting out of bed in the morning

Finding a life worth giving and so much more worth doing

To all who have had their share of good days and bad days

I find most days fall somewhere inbetween

A little bit special and a tad disappointing

Well when tomorrow comes this day will be over

No one can say we didn't try

Life is not always about the big things

It might be something to carry me over or just in the middle mediocre at best

I find it is the glue that sticks every thing else together

Then in the end we can paste it like a puzzle

That looks easier than it is

Brighter than we thought

A memory that will be in the back of our minds

That we can compare our other days with

To see how they rate

On a one to ten scale

Ten being the best there is

Today was a seven and showed promise

Tomorrow we will just have to wait and see

If it is another seven or a ten and who knows maybe even an eleven
