Embracing Womanhood
Embracing womanhood
It means so much
From giving birth
to loving yourself
Women mean so
Much more
Then some people give us
Credit for
We are more than just
A pretty face
Then getting dolled up
In satin and lace
We are more than
Being a servant
A cook or a housekeeper
A little wife who's
Place is at home
Left alone in the dark
We should stand tall
Never letting someone
Knock us down
We are strong and proud
Could support our children
Despite all hardships
We survive
People can judge
Try and tell us how to live
Through it all we stand up
Not letting anybody tell us
What to do
Or to define us
What does it mean to
Be a woman
Some people think it means
To keep quiet
Not speaking up loud
Or hiding our beauty
Our faces and bodies
Bound up
Covered up with
Cloth
Who are they to tell us
What to wear
How to act
Or who to be
Who is someone to say
You deserve
To stand in back
That your words don't
Mean as much
Or that sexiness is a sin
Hypocrites
They would be the first
To look and act
Then judge
Who is someone to tell you
How to live
Trying to make you think
Your intelligence
Is not found
We know who we are
We are women
Vivacious
Luscious
Loving
Nurturing
Strong
Intelligent
Beautiful
Capable
And
Proud
Don't tell us
Who we are
Deep inside
We know
We don't need your
Opinion
We don't need your
Advice
Judgement
Or lies
We are women
Hear us roar
Until death
Proud to be
Alive
