Everything But Enough
by Amber Maccione
I am good enough to be your friend
Good enough to cook and clean for you
Good enough to buy things for you
Good enough to cater to you
But not good enough to be your girl.
I am good enough to be your baby mama
Good enough to know all your bank accounts
Good enough to live in the same house as you
Good enough to be there whenever you’re in need
But not good enough to be your wife
You know I love you
You know I care for you
You know I know you inside and out
Yet the words, “Will you marry me?”
You’ll never let out
How can I be good enough for everything but:
Your love
Your care
Your body
Your soul
When you have entrusted everything else to me?
I am good enough for you to let me see your pain
Even good enough to see your face tear stained
When will you wake up and see
That the person God made for you
Is me.
