For now our love lives on in this song...

There's nothing good about a DIVORCE!

For now our love lives on in this song...

We ended up, not working out.

Our love got tossed and turned about.

We went through hell, and we went through some fun.

Now the end of us two has come down to just each one.

I can’t say I’m sorry, and I can’t say I’m glad.

I will always remember the good times we had!

I did a lot of stupid things, Yes…I was pretty dumb.

But, the way we ended just leaves me numb.

The memories of you, I will always keep.

They are heavy on my heart…and make me weep.

The times we loved and laughed I will never forget.

I will be forever glad we met.

I get up each morning and look for you.

Only to be reminded that it’s true.

We’re not together anymore.

That’s when I pick my heart back up off the floor.

My life will go on in some ways better, and some ways worse.

But, that’s what happens in a divorce.

I would have never gone down this road if I had known where I’ve been.

No…wait a minute…I guess I would do it all over again!

Good bye my love…we’ll never again be husband and wife.

Take care and know you still have a big chunk of my life.

I guess no one can predict what will ever go wrong.

But for now our love lives on in this song!

Dear Putz: (that was too tempting...?) Thank you for the great compliment on writing. (Bet you didn't think it would start this big a response...huh?) Truly (and humbly)...I appreciate that you called it a "gift"...for a lot of reasons. Trust me when I say...I searched for any kind of a "gift" that I might have...for years...or one that I hoped I had. I sure hope that this is one...Humbly, MPM.

thanglynn07: Why thank you, M'am...I am glad you loved this poem. It is one that is full of pain...and the other things you mentioned. It is so true that...in memories all love can love live on...even if not in reality. Thank you for reading and commenting on my poem about divorce. Humbly, MPM

That was so beautiful! Heartfelt...I can feel the pain, yet also the acceptance of reality. But alas, the memories will always linger...And it is true that even if the ending result ultimately is being apart, at least there are good memories to look back on. No regrets...at least you once loved and was loved in return...Once upon a time...captured in a song. I loved this poem!

What a great title - and it pulls at the heartstrings - it's always sad when love flies out the window, isn't it? This would be great set to music :)

Lgali: Thanks for that comment and for reading this poem!

Laura du Toit: Hi...Thanks for seeing all the "particulars" to this poem. Yes...I think I will tell my wife "I love her"...I like what you said about making the best of each moment. It was a bad "Moment" in our lifes...that really brought all this on. Taught me to enjoy the good "Moments"...of which...I plan on spending even more with her now! Enjoyed your comment. Appreciate you reading this poem on DIVORCE.

Hi Manlypoetry

I'm sure glad that it did work out for you and your wife cause one can feel the pain that you went through at that time. There are no guarantees in life and one must just learn to live each moment as if it may be the last. Remember to tell your wife how very much you love her - write her a poem if you want to - but do it every day.

judydianne: Very Glad...you could relate to this poem. I think that the emotions that one goes through during a divorce...are some of the worst and more perplexing than anyone can experience. This one was actually in my arsenal...left over from a very bad time in our/my life. My wife and I did not go through with a Divorce...although we went through many of the steps. I thank God that we had a Second Chance. But, when I wrote this poem...it didn't look like we had any chance! Sincerely, MPM.

Well...Hey there, Gus,...Thanks for your comment...I reckon

that I will...just Keep on a Keeping on! I was thinking about adding flames to the ol' tractor...What do you think? Boy...wouldn't the boys over at the Coop get a hoot out'ta that...when I roll in with a trailer load! Keep on shootin' straight and be sure you have a pic down at the Marina to go along with all the fishing stories...ya' tell, Later...MPM.

advisor: Been keeping up with the dilemma you face...and I am sending a prayer over to you as I type. In my case...this was actually a few years back...for me. We went through a terrible spell after losing my step-son in War. Death of a young one...for any reason...can be Hell on a family. I have been hesitant to use this poem on Hubs...because it seems out of place in my current life...yet, I still feel like it has a strong message and a life...all it's own...so...it was hard not to eventually use it. (Especially...since I have been too busy to sit down and write anything of length lately...)The sadness that is divorce...can bring forth new hope for things to be different...after the dust all settles...I believe that is one...if not it's only attribute. I agree with you that another door opens...Good Fortune to you and what lies ahead in your future. Humbly, MPM.

tantrum: Welcome to my poem on Divorce...Thanks for stopping in and reading it. As always...I appreciate your comments, my friend. MPM

I'm getting ready for a divorce. I'm sorry you are so sad. Mine is more of a relief after so many years of misery. Sometimes one door has to close before another one can open. So while yes, there is a sadness, there is also hope!
