For those who don't fit in
For those who don’t fit in!
Here’s to all those who don’t fit in!
Raise up your head, lift up your chin!
Let me take a moment to tell you what this is all about
No longer should you be or feel like the odd one out.
Be yourself, be proud, and I hope you’ll begin
To see the importance of being the odd one in.
There’s no reason for you to change who you are,
Because knowledge and understanding can really go far.
Don’t change for those who make you feel like you should.
Even if you’re different, who you are is still good.
The world needs people like us
To make a fuss!
And not to cower away
And let our voices fade.
They’ll tell you the issue is you, but this isn’t true,
It’s how the world reacts to something that’s new.
Some are afraid and don’t know how to feel,
When someone challenges what they once thought was real
That’s why you gotta be who you are,
Even when it gets hard!
Because if you do change, the world stays the same,
And others may feel alone with this pain.
One thing we share is that we’re all human
It’s the most wondrous thing we all have in common.
You may not fit the labels they’ve made,
But maybe their minds are what needs to change?
They need to see that people like you exist,
Because for some this will be quite the twist
I’m not saying the world needs to change to suit our needs,
But just to open their eyes, let them all see.
The more different we are, the more we’re the same.
We’re all so complex, with variety and range.
The more we accept those different from us
The less that they’ll need to make such a fuss
And by accepting the rest
We can become our best
All we need in life is to be loved while we live
-to have a place where we can be safe and be free.
So strengthen your heart! Lift up your chin!
Why be the odd one out when you can be the odd one in?!
