I Always Wonder

I always wonder

if you remember me.

I hear of you

from time to time

words of others

who care to wonder

if I will stop and ask

of how you are.

I saw you a time or two

made sure to walk

the other way

get lost within

the crowded street.

Someone asked

if I heard the news

about what had happened

I dismissed it lightly

and went on my way.

Another told me

of this or that

but what did I have

to say about it

not much

everything was so long ago.

Sometimes I think

of if you know

anything of what

is in my world.

I forever ignore

all talk and questions

dismiss nothings

as I solider on.

Proud nature

prevents thinking of

knowing if

you've heard the latest.

Yet, I always wonder

if you remember me.
