I WILL ABIDE

'Tis Winter there where you reside
Outside all is white with a snowy glow
The sun rarely peaks behind a cloud
And hearts no longer beat to a loving sound

‘Tis Summer here where I live proud
The air is thick with the sun’s perfume
In crowds where people are all in tune
A heat wave covers like a mother’s shroud

‘Tis cold there where life moves slow
With icy words that come and go
From chattering teeth that have lost their glow
And fingers touch but are too numb to know

‘Tis tiresome here with damp skin a- glow
With every ray of light that pierces my soul
I weep and worry from losses incurred
From your long lost heart buried deep in snow.

‘Tis Winter there where you reside
Until the chilly ice melts – I will abide.

The cold and the warmth, tugging at hearts...one sometimes waits for the cold to melt and fade...sometimes it does..and warmth prevails. Vividly expressed....thanks for sharing

Voted up and awesome. This is just wonderful. The coldness of winter combined with the warmth of summer. Passing this on.

Well Miss M - no one writes a poetic reverie better than you - and it's a touch bittersweet with a elegiac mood.

Ironic to say that you live in a warm climate and I live in a cold one - yikes - is this about me , lol. I would bow to you on my hands and knees if it were, even if my toupee slipped off. What I really need is a funky 'get down' haircut like Sam the Man's. Yeah that's the ticket, babyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!

Sending warm wishes to a warm climate from an appreciative reader who is thrilled that you're back in the fold here at the Hub.

Wonder if the 'dour one' will make a cameo apperance?

lake erie time 7:40pm

that's a lovely last line by the way, Until the chilly ice melts - I will abide. It's to die for.

"And fingers touch but are too numb to know" says it all, in addition to those unforgettable last lines "Tis Winter there where you reside, Until the chilly ice melts - I will abide." Gorgeous imagery, Maria. Thank you

@ epigramman - you would do well to assume that all of my poems are about you in one way or another. You are after all, my main muse. LOL The question remains - will you abide until my next write? :)
