Into A River (poem)
Into a river they are borne
And from this life the two were torn
It happened on a Sunday morn
When gentle faces tear adorn
-
How did it start so few still know
It didn’t seem that long ago
When we all danced in lovers’ glow
And how we blushed when kisses flow
-
This past that fate would take away
Few dared to dream it wouldn’t stay
What path made these two lovers stray
From all the Joys of yesterday
-
Into a river they are borne
And from this life the two were torn
It happened on a Sunday morn
When gentle faces tear adorn
-
Her hope filled smile a memory
He loved her so the blind could see
He took her hand so tenderly
And so they met their destiny
-
Into a river they are borne
And from this life the two were torn
It happened on a Sunday morn
When gentle faces tear adorn
-
All still recall how church bells tolled
The sun held promises so bold
All watched as wonder there unfold
As to their fate these two then strolled
-
Into a river they are borne
And from this life the two were torn
It happened on a Sunday morn
When gentle faces tear adorn
-
It happened there within clear view
Mid flowers covered with spring dew
They took this step which all there knew
When they exchanged the words I do
-
Into a river they are borne
And from this life the two were torn
It happened on a Sunday morn
When gentle faces tear adorn
